My story.
Got divorced. Moved from the suburbs to inner city. Was on my mountain bike going to the grocery store via a bike trail that followed a bayou. Lots of bums under the bridges. I was used to seeing them. So riding past one he pulls a steak knife and lunged at me. I swerved and he missed. Stopped about 50 yards away and drew my CCW. I was very angry and jacked up on adrenaline. Then realized that shooting that piece of shit was now unjustified due to the distance that separated us. So I continued on my way. Could have called HPD and waited hours for them to not show up. So I didn’t bother.

You probably should have called to Police.  Better to be the first to report things.

To answer the question, yes, once years ago.  He pulled a knife because I interrupted him beating on his girlfriend, I pulled a 1911.  He started screaming about "shoot me MFer" but was backing away the whole time.  Police came, he took a few swings at them and that went poorly for him.   Officer walked through what all happened with me and he went to jail for the night related to the domestic abuse I was interrupting.

Yes sort of I think. Stick outside a bar on Coranodo island and some guy gets a knife out because he didn't like what we had to say. Nothing happened and we all went our separate ways but could have gone badly.

He said he washed out of BUDs and maybe he did, but at the time I just assumed that's something all the locals say to visitors.

It was all kind of a blur, drank a lot with him and his buddy that night.

I was in college, visiting friends at USC in Columbia.  Some bum pulled a knife on me in the parking garage.  All I had was pepper spray and my own knife.  I loaded his face up with the spray and kicked the shit out of his kneecaps and shins.  He couldn't get up.  Then I got the hell out of there.

I never called the cops, because they were a joke there even then.  They would have probably arrested me for assault and battery since he was black and I wasn't.

I dislike parking garages and avoid them to this day.

At an ATM in a strip mall years ago, I heard "Give me what you just took out" and turn around to see a kid, maybe 13 holding a Barlow pocket knife up close to my face.
I kicked him in the groin, kneed him in the face and then broke the blade of his knife off on the sidewalk. Other people were watching as well as a cop that was on foot
patrol in the area. He took my info and took over and I never heard anything else about it.

Yes.

I drew my sidearm and was about 1 millisecond from squeezing the trigger. As a matter of fact, I had already begun taking up the slack.

Another deputy tased him from my right side and fortunately that ended it.

I’m great full I didn’t have to shoot him. He was a 20 something schizophrenic.

Working security in a friend's bar back a zillion years ago.

I got cut, he got beaten within an inch of his life.  I waited at my apartment the whole next day for the cops to show up and arrest me.  Truthfully, I deserved charges.  I kicked that fucker (with a blood-soaked towel wrapped around my hand) until I was literally too tired to kick anymore.

I got very lucky twice.  Attacked with a knife by someone who didn't know what he was doing, and that didn't go to the cops.

I'm older, fatter, smarter, better armed, and much more circumspect these days.

I got stabbed in the arm with a screwdriver once, didn't even realize dude had stabbed me.

At a worksite, crazy person pulled a knife on my foreman, said he was going to kill him. Foreman bluffed him and dude backed off. His words were "Ey bud we all got knives." (And there were 5 of us) and "I'll bleed all over you." Funny as shit.

Not a Knife, but a Box cutter, back in High school.

Had a kid pull it on me in the hallway in building 2 of our school.  He wanted a chain I was wearing and tried to snatch it. I deflected that, then he got pissed and pulled the box cutter.

Seems like I grabbed the wrist of his right hand with my left hand and (Stupidly) jerked it toward me pulling him off balance and simultaneously back handing him with my right right fist to his temple area.  He dropped the cutter and it slide across the floor where someone picked it up.

It all happened so fast, it scared the shit out of me and about made me sick.

We both ended up in the Principals office and both got 3 day suspension.
My dad was pissed, he came up there and went off on the principal and the school.
From now on any time I got called into the office and my dad had to come up they had a resource officer in there and waiting.

I did too, nicked on the bridge of the nose by a full slash attempt. He over-swung though and I blocked his arm, knocked the knife out of his hand and beat the ever living fuck out of him. He was crawling toward the street crying when the cops rolled up.

I had another one where a guy pulled a knife on me during an argument he started with two friends of mine. I casually slapped the knife out of his hand and pushed him into a briar patch that was directly behind him. Everybody that saw it started laughing watching this tool get tangled in the briars.

In a bar in Mexico, buddy and I were getting a bit drunk. Another American started getting obnoxious. Told obnoxious guy to shut up. OG pulls thin switch blade looking knife. I tried grabbing his wrist with my left hand and swung with my right. Knew I missed the grab but didn't realize how badly I missed till later. Buddy and I got the knife away and sent OG on his way.
Then noticed I was leaking a bit. Rinsed my hand with tequila ( not pleasant) wrapped it with bar napkins and tape and wandered off to find another bar.
Next morning I found that the knife had gone all the way through my hand.
Having a medic scrub out the wound with q tips was less pleasantly but you can hardly see the scar anymore.

Oh man, thanks for bringing up bad memories!  In college, a guy was sitting on my car talking to another guy.  I asked him to get off my car, he kept talking.  I asked him again, he kept talking.  I grabbed him by the ankle and dumped him on his ass.  He went to his car and pulled out a machete and proceeded to chase me all over the parking lot.  I finally got away and told him I was calling the cops (over my shoulder as I was hauling ass).  He and his friend were gone by the time the campus cops arrived.

No but to make a long story short, I was the victim of a violent carjacking when I was like 18 years old. Scum bag Mexican gang members. I used my knife on one of them during their attack. Basically gutted the guy in the street.
Lots of police and detectives and 12 hours later I was back home chillin.

Threw a guy out of the stripclub one night. Tried to scuffle with us a little bit so we gave him a pretty good toss.
Walks to the end of the building where one of the girls is sitting with her BF eating some food he had brought her for her break.
Dude tossed out opens his truck door and grabs a hunting knife and is muttering about fucking someone up.
Turns around and the dancers BF is like that’s my fuckin homies! Knocked that dude silly on the spot.
Sheriffs dept. used to park on the other side of our parking lot by the gas station so here they came flying up.
Homie got beat up, went to jail and  lost his knife.

A few times. I basically backed down (and one time ran for my life and was chased) and never got stabbed or cut.

Some thug pulled a knife on a friend back in high school. Friend didn't back down. No hesitation or fear, he kicked the knife out of the guys hand then knocked the guy out cold with a right hook.

Another friend (interestingly, older brother of kick/knockout guy above) was taking a piss in an alley and a car full of thugs rolled by and shouted something at him. He just nonchalantly raised his middle finger in the air and finished pissing. In the meantime, unbeknownst to him, one of the thugs took offense to the middle finger and pulled the car over. Guy snuck up behind him, and as soon as he turned around, sliced him from ear to mouth with a box cutter. Lots of blood. Gnarly scar.

Another friend had a knife pulled on him...some sort of disagreement with some thug who wanted his cell phone. He was a nice guy and definitely not a fighter. He would have backed down but he didn't even have a chance. He was stabbed in the gut and died. Thug got the cell phone anyway and was never caught.

Life ain't fair. People are assholes. Knives are dangerous.

Working a concert venue security job I took a small slash wound to my left forearm in altercation with a concert goer.

In the same altercation, another bloke took the full 4" blade into the abdomen and a female usher got her femur broken by a brutal kick (it was her injury that started the fun) and we "security guards" (bouncers) dog piled he guy. Attacker was on a bad trip.

I quit shortly thereafter.  The pay was not commensurate with the rising level of risk.  By example, at another event, the venue held 22,000 for general admission shows, and sold 25,000 tickets to a show.  The folks being excluded took umbrage at this and began ripping the exit and fire doors open.  One of the three double doors where I was assigned was ripped open by a crowd of a few hundred one of whom screamed "GET HIM!"  About that time, a car came plowing through the crowd, toward the door, when came a cry "DA POLICE!!!" and the crowd of crazies disappeared like a snow ball on the Sun.

Sad thing, as I saw GREAT concerts.  Fleetwood Mac Rumours tour, Led Zeppelin (I was at the top of the stage steps for all four shows), Queen, Santana and dozens more.

Ex-wife about 24 hours after the divorce.  I was at my parent's house and she came by to slash my tires in broad daylight.  I got in between her and the truck with a lawn chair and she pushed and tried to get around me some but eventually just paced back and forth talking shit.  My father called the cops and maybe ten minutes later deputies rolled up.  They strolled up and seemed remarkably bored, same shit different day I guess.  She dropped the knife and hadn't really committed to it so when they asked if I wanted to press charges I told them to forget about it.  They escorted her back to her car and told her to fuck off and that was it.  All for the best, she fucked off and stayed fucked off.

I walked back inside of the bus terminal and had a shitty grilled cheese and ham. That was in October of 1989.

Not on me at first, but on my younger brother at a convention.
One of those nerd ones with all the cosplayers dressing up.
My younger brother had been mouthing off about something or other and got this one guy's goat about his sister, mom, or something.
Well he pulled a knife that we thought was just part of his outfit at first till he got closer and waved it around.
I told him to put it away and stop being stupid before he hurt himself.
He waved it at me so I lifted the edge of my shirt just enough for him to see I was packing.
He kinda gulped at like a fish, eyes all buggy.
He kinda muttered "be cool, bro", put the knife away, and then wandered off.
Didn't see him again the whole weekend.

Have also cut myself working with sharp objects more times than I care to admit, haha

It turned out badly for me.

I have a four inch scar on on my shoulder near the armpit.

Drinking and mouthing off to other drunk people in a bar in Idaho turned out to be a bad plan. There were 10 drunken guys and 2-3 girls and we were all interested in one thing. To make matters worse, all the guys had been in the woods for a week or two and hadn't seen a female for days.

So, we are about to come to blows, which wasn't too abnormal, but the guy pulled his knife out of his belt and slashed out at me. He connected and it hurt like a son of a bitch and bled a ton.

My buddies got me out of there and held pressure on it for the hour and a half drive to the hospital.  It was a really ragged cut. The dumbass clearly did not know how to keep a good edge on his blade.

The ER nurse and doc scrubbed it and then disinfected it and then the doc had the nurse practice her stitching on me. I was still drunk enough to try to hit on her. No success there, either.

The scar is still there, I see it clearly if I get any kind of tan on that part of my body.

The guy who cut me ended up becoming a friend. He spent two nights in the jail in Challis (I think that's where the jail was)

I don't want to get cut again. That pain was impressive.

Yes, on my paper route.
3 kids older than me.
One pulled a knife, and started slashing my papers.

Pay up of we won't stop.
I had about 17 cents on me.
Thats was all they got .

Just being punks.

I knew where one of them lived.
I went over to his house,  and may have broke his nose.

When his Dad started yelling,  I told him what the 3 of them did.
Then HE started screaming at his bloody Son.

Never saw the rest of them again.
Totally worth 17 cents.

Until reading this thread, I had forgotten about that time in New Orleans.

I worked in the French Quarter, but parked a half block away.  Was walking to my car, when I spotted a young kid crossing the street toward me with a knife in his hand. His intent was pretty clear. I stopped and pulled my weapon. At exactly that moment, a women standing on a second floor balcony yelled at the kid; called him by name. He broke off. I went on to my car. The kid looked no older than fifteen.
Haven't thought of that in many years.

Yeah, the 1st time was at a bar fight I got called too.
A drunk Mexcian pulled knife and I was too close and for some reason got stuck in the left calf.
That was early in the career, like 12 months into it.

EMT's fixed that one and the drunk went to jail.

2nd time, another drunk pulled one on me I caught slashing car tires.
We were about 12 feet apart and he was trying to come over the hood of the car at me.
I drew on him, which did not seem to phase him a lot, until my partner on the same side of the car as him racked the 870, 12 gauge he was carrying.
That stopped the disagreement and he went to jail.

3rd time was a psycho who was threatening a bunch of kids and adults in an apartment building parking lot and he pulled a machete on me and my partner.
That got tense and we had a 10 minute standoff while getting the other denizens of the building away.
both of us had weapons drawn, me with a duty weapon, partner, again, with an 870 shotgun.
He finally put it down, and again, off to jail.

The last time was a cranked up and drunk Black guy who was a 75th Ranger clown who beat the hell out of his wife.
He pulled an axe and charged 4 of us.
He ended up dropping the axe, I ended up with 4 broken ribs, he ended up Tased, and with a broken collarbone, a concussion and a separated shoulder.
He even swung on his CO, who called got in.

I don't like knives or bladed sharp objects, unless I am carrying them-
Everybody had injuries of some sort.

When I was a kid.

I was standing in front of the school before class in the morning.  A black kid from a family in town, a family that all seemed to have issues with anger or legal troubles, came up to me.  He pulled out what appeared to be a brand new buck knife.  He opened it stuck it blade side to my throat and said he got a brand new buck knife and he needed to test out by cutting off a white kids head.  I simply froze.  I did nothing, I was a kid maybe 7th grade, he was older by a few years.  The bell rang and he pulled the knife from my throat and closed it and went to class.  The guys who had been standing there with me, my age, all said holy cow, wow, etc.  We went to class.

Scared the shit out of me.

Small town north Texas.  Only had a few black people in town.

Yeah back in junior high school. A kid down the street and I were good friends. Did shit together every day. A new kid moves in and we’re on the same ball team so him and I came rolling up on our bikes to play bball with my buddy. He was out there by himself and it was completely the norm to just join in.

Well he’s not very athletic but my new friend and I were and started dunking it (it was lowered) and having fun. He told us to leave but I thought he was joking and we started playing keep away or something because his panties were obviously in a wad.  I guess he didn’t like the new kid. Jealousy or something.

So he told us to leave or he’d make us. I just laughed and said how are you gonna make us. He went into the garage and came out with something behind his back. Got in my face and pulled up an open box cutter and stuck it to my nose.

Ok this guy had the presence of a little fuckin kid when he tried you act tough so we couldn’t contain our laughter, I took the knife, pulled the blade in, gave it back to him, and told him if he ever did anything like that again I’d beat his head in.

Next thing i know his dad hollered from the front door asking if everything was alright. I don’t know how much he saw. I told him yeah and that we were just leaving.

Never talked to him again but his dad is still a good friend. Sad deal because i liked him.

He ended up playing right into the stereotype and became a cop.

Got accosted by some yutes at my car window waiting for a friend in downtown Panama before Noriega went Froggy. My mistake for having the window down in the tropics...

Classic distraction guy pounded on the passenger window to get my attention while his knife wielding accomplice got to my drivers window and got the knife in the window and tried to put it to my neck. We wrestled in the the window opening until he broke free and was about to stick me. I yielded in my best broken Spanish and they got me out of the car. Frisked me for money and found I only had $10 and my High School class ring. They took both and skedaddled. The class ring was "Lustreum" or some other non tarnishable non precious metal so they really didn't get much. My ID was well hidden in the car fortunately! Fun times in country.

I have an ax scar from a friend that was fooling around when we were 14. He swung his newly sharpened ax at me, in fun, he said later. I flinch blocked it with my left hand and the blade contacted my palm. Went pretty deep. Probably should have gotten stitches. I still have a scar right in the middle of my "life line". Wonder what a palm reader would say about that!
