Impressed by how quickly they got the fire under control.

Not just under control, but completely put out in less than 90 seconds! That's some serious damage control expertise.

I did not not determine it from the video, did the pilot stay in the airplane?

If you read the comments under the video some of the posters say they were there during the event.

Deck apes are some of the hardest working people in the DOD.

It’s a grueling, dirty and dangerous job, and they do it, every day.

All the guys run away from the plane when it pops, except the one guy that does a semi-circle and runs back toward the plane.

Hats off to our Servicemen and women!

Over the radio, the pilot was told to eject. But he saw he had control of the aircraft and was able to bring it to a stop, according to the report.

So instead, he "safed" his ejection seat, opened the Harrier's canopy, and moved to exit the aircraft that way.

At first, he was hit in the face with firefighting foam and pushed back into his seat. But after several attempts, he was able to climb down from the aircraft and taken for medical evaluation, according to the report.

I remember some of the locals at Sun n Fun looking at the warbirds on the line and this heavyset dude says to his kid "reckon that thing's got a V8 hemi in it?"

That pilot had balls of steel, and trusted the DC team to get him out alive.
He was advised to eject.  Instead, he safed the seat and waited for his chance to exit the cockpit.
Incredible.

Damage control is no joke on a US warship. They train it until it becomes a 6th sense.

When we had the big tread about the Bonnie Dick. A lot of folks on here didn't understand that, had that ship been at sea. It would have never burned up like that.

Hellva job to deck crew.

Yep.  One thing the Navy does extremely well is at-sea firefighting.  It's the reason I think the trend to much smaller crews is a huge mistake.
