So a friend of mine, a former coworker, was a Fire Captain with the City of Greensboro and had been there 16 years. He posted the meme below and the City terminated his employment last week. Link Attached File I worked at the same Dept for 20 years and was also a Fire Captain, and they initiated a dismissal process on me in 2020 for posting a meme critical of BLM. This City has gone completely "woke" and essentially all conservative opinions are classified as discriminatory. First Amendment retaliation. Not to mention blatant discrimination against his sexual orientation. I'd be tempted to sue the (insert GD appropriate language here) even if they do hire him back upon appeal. I wouldn't sue the city, I'd sue the (***) who did it. |

And this is why I’m glad I’m in a state with good union protections. Our city tried to put in a policy that said more or less that you could be fired for saying anything they disagree with online on or off duty. The union told them to fuck off and the policy was quickly clarified as to “while representing oneself” as a city employee. |

Everyone on this site thinks every time they feel “wronged” it’s going to be a civil lawsuit payday. Maybe instead of bending over backwards to avoid jury duty (like the dozens of threads every year) you all should go and see how the legal system actually works. NC a right to work state? |

Yeah it is amazing how much .gov gets to stifle your first amendment protections at times. Pretty ridiculous. I miss the days when you actually had to do something wrong to get in trouble… Gee, wonder why everyone retires as soon as possible, and they cannot hire enough people these days? |
