There is a tug alongside already. Shouldn't it be able to pull that fail ship out?

I am not a fan of these ships getting larger and larger, they present serious issues in the response community. This one is a 20,000 TEU (10,000 40-foot containers)
They now have 24,000 TEU ships. Just one of these barely grounded in Germany a couple years ago and they had to call in something like 14 tugs to pull it free. |

Has anyone here posited that it's the opening move in China's invasion of Taiwan? If it's not really go time, is it a rehearsal or a probe?
How much of our Navy is floating in the Med? How much extra time will it take for our Atlantic fleet to go around Africa to get into the Indian Ocean? Is it happening yet? You know it doesn't matter anyway right? Biden is just going to shrug when Winnie the Pooh (that's Xi Jinping for you meme illiterates) pulls the trigger and send troops across the Taiwan Strait. |

Quoted: That boat must have one hell of a hull speed. very fast. so ballpark 3700+ conex's on her. I wonder what that tranlates to in highway traffic -- like, how long for that many Big Rigs to pass thru this section of I294 just west of Chicago. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/176296/Screen_Shot_2021-03-23_at_6_48_17_PM-1877440.png. I genuinely can't estimate, but I bet it would take some significant amount of time. View Quote Twenty thousand of these trucks. Attached File |

At 400-meters-long and a little over 20,000 TEU capacity, the Panama-registered MV Ever Given is among the largest of so-called “mega ships”, aka ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs), currently in operation. |

View Quote for reference some of the newest US built Jones Act ships are only roughly 3,200 TEU, and are still the largest container ships ever built in the US. they will just continue growing in size as more containers moved per bbl of fuel = more profit. crew sizes staying the same or being reduced with more automation. a ship of that size will still have a crew of 20-25 and most of the voyage is automated via electronic charting systems and autopilot and engine rooms only manned for an average of 8 hours a day. |

Wonder if the captain will offer a blowy to the tug captain that frees it
