Grocery Prices Are Out Of Control (Page 9 of 12)
| Maybe this is a California prices thing? Dad always said that about the Price is Right. This week I bought X-Large brown eggs for $1.49/dz, milk for $4.99/gal, boneless chicken breast for $2.99/lb and 80/20 Chuck for $4.49/lb. We buy keto bread, so I won’t include that high priced stuff for comparison. I don’t know, those seem like early 2000s prices to me. I’m not sure how cheap is cheap enough for some of you. |

Now the staff greets me with "hey it's 3-for-free!" and ALWAYS give me three packets. It's such a fun and cool atmosphere at my local McDonald's restaurant, I go there at least 3 times a week for lunch and a large iced coffee with milk instead of cream, 1-2 times for breakfast on the weekend, and maybe once for dinner when I'm in a rush but want a great meal that is affordable, fast, and can match my daily nutritional needs. I even dip my fries in McChicken sauce, it's delicious! What a great restaurant. lol. My family hasn’t been to a McDonald in at least 8 years. The only fast food we eat is the local maid rite and those are loose hamburger sandwiches lol. Thats still rare for us. |

Gardens are always losers compared to store bought if you actually add in all the costs. Add in your labor and even bougie farmer’s markets are a bargain compared to home grown. Some people enjoy the aspect of having a hand in the production of some of their food. More of a hobby in 2026. I very quickly lost interest in the concept. Mass scale food production FTW.

I was in one store the other day looking to grab a good baguette. They have low grade breads with shit grade flour and a higher grade of bread made with a better grade of flour that has a much nicer crumb and flavor. $3.99 for the shit grade looks like a baguette loaf but tastes like styrofoam and $5.99 for a shorter baguette (15”). No Fn way am I paying six bucks for a god damned baguette, that would make the French revolt again. The enshitification continues. |

The guy is a human hand grenade, and it's a weak argument to assert that people who have issues with his policies are just "weak". That is so far from rational that it is ridiculous. We are not ruled by a mad king, we have separation of powers and it works. You have somebody who is decisive, and at times impulsive, but he does not rule us. Congress and the Courts still have a say. We don't have friends, we have interests, and the world realigns. Many of our "friends" have been fucking us for decades if not generations. Both parties allowed that to happen, often for parochial reasons and personal benefit. That is always going to be, and indeed may well be true of Trump as well. However, he has done more to try to restore some balance than any other president. Again, FAR from perfect, but if you think this isn't worlds better than under Biden and what would have been under Harris I can't help you. And the most laughable shit you said was with regard to bankruptcies. Six out of HUNDREDS of businesses Trump is involved with filed for bankruptcy protection as they reorganized. You just used the most bullshit libtard talking point that is easily refuted and cast doubt on everything else you said. |

It’s not that I disagree with what you are saying here it’s that totally ignoring the struggles of the working class is a mistake as well. I think Vance is a better speaker he can be tough but do a better job of showing that he isn’t all about his own ego and does understand and care about the struggles. Actually have a plan to appease some concerns not about now but about long term. Writing it off as it’s normal to lose the mid terms isn’t what I’m concerned with. I’m concerned with losing mid terms, losing the presidency, and giving them a super majority at the next presidential cycle. I’m thinking long term here. We need to plan for that in other words yes there are things needing done which create struggles but the average Joe sees this struggle only getting worse with no plan to right the ship. |

This isn't defeatist it's more let's show a legit plan to improve this to give hope so we don't turn midterm losses into a blood bath and another loss everywhere during the presidential cycle. Trump will never admit that. |

I think the proposal to give every American adult $5k if we hold Congress is fucking retarded. I think we should be more forceful in how we deal with Iran, but we needed to deal with them. I think it was stupid to dip into the SPR to stabilize prices. It was short term at best, and left us with less oil for emergencies. Hopefully nations actually pay us back in the coming months as they agreed. There is plenty I don't agree with Trump over, but finally dealing with Iran after 50 years of presidents from both parties kicking the can down the road is something I support even if I don't always agree on the approach. I also accept that this will come with pain. Could have been a lot less if dealt with decades ago, and it will be much worse if we don't deal with it today. Fuck the politicians from both parties that created this mess. There are no good options. There are options that are temporarily comfortable or less painful, but that's what got us to where we are. At some point things have to change. Anyway, people have the right to bitch and complain and it is not without some merit, but they really need to ask themselves why are we in this situation right now? If they are honest with themselves, which they won't be, they'll admit that it was because we didn't act with courage and instead focused on comfort rather than security and longterm stability. The problem in the midterms is going to be down ballot. If we lose the Senate, we can kiss any SCOTUS confirmations goodbye for the next 2 years. Probably make that 6 years cause at this point, I don't see an R being elected for POTUS in 2028. That is concerning with the two best "R"s on SCOTUS being 78 and 76 years old. Here in Ohio, we are more than likely going to end of with a Dem governor and Dem Senator, when Trump won this state by 11 pts two years ago. That's the bigger problem then losing the House. I agree that something needed done with Iran. Easy to say in hindsight, but it seems it should have been a Midnight Hammer 2.0, or total regime change. I loved Midnight Hammer, and if nukes was the problem we should have taken out the facilities and that was it. But with the Iranian protest, it seems to have precipitated a half-assed attempt at regime change (started to late to take advantage of the protest) and the blowback from the regime was much more regional instability. It's easy to say all this in hindsight, but it seems Trump has a big problem with messaging. People are saying "why am I paying $6.64 for diesel and $8 for ground beef, for what?". I agree with you something needed done about Iran, but I'm also pointing out it seems the management side of it is going to have real consequences way above just losing the House. That sucks. |

Whatever, dudes with your stealthN-T posts. I-D-C. Cost of doing business. Past admins let the Iranians get away with everything, sent them money by the boatload and we damn near avoided catching a hot one or six if they'd have been able to finish their nukes. Whoever let them get that far should have spent the rest of their time in the stockade. Idiots. Sheer madness with their "it's only for peaceful purposes" BS. Trump's fixing it but wars operate on their own timetables, not what YOU think it ought to be. Enemy gets to vote, too. (year before last these people whining about this war were cheering us going to Ukraine. How stupid was THAT?!??) Lots of reasons stuff is more expensive. Get used to it. Just the way it is. My property taxes haven't gone up very much. Few bucks. My insurance actually went down the last couple years and I've made no significant changes. Sorry some a yall gotta put up with blue state BS. Ain't that way here. Grocery prices. I shop in bulk at Sams. Dropped 300 last weekend on my monthly stockup. Re-upped my stocks of protein powders, drinks mainly. I'll do my meat shopping in a couple week or so. Buying in bulk and freezing stretches my dollars. My weekly bill varys, around fifty-100 bucks sometimes. It's just me & the dog. Yes. Grocery prices are up. I shop coupons and sales, buy in bulk and store where I can. Coupon deals getting scarcer as the stores cut back on this. Even the Kroger gas rewards are slimmer. I get it. Fuel prices are driving up costs everywhere. In my AO, there's NO reason diesel is more than gas. 4.39 for regular, 6.19 for diesel. FU oil company fatcats. FU californicated asshole newscum. And my water bill actually went down this month. Fancy that..... |

I don't have any of that. I don't owe anyone anything. I'm still annoyed @ $6/gallon diesel and the high prices we have because the idiots in charge are, well, idiots. It helps lots too, when they say things like "inflation is a hoax". |

There are people here that think like this. ...the "proudly" part is the problem. No way would I be proud of $12 a gallon gas.

I agree with most of your statement but do you realize that a 500k house isn't much? Even in this shithole called Vegas that's almost the average home price. |
