No, I was attempting to complement you on your prudent use of your grocery money, as well as your understanding that a best by date is not the same as an expiration date - Most Americans simply assume that out of date product is not fit to eat, rather than understanding that the main purpose of that date is for product rotation to keep items fresh for sale. I was also trying to explain that the majority of Americans do not shop at stores that focus on close /out of date food product, and do not understand the business model of such stores. Basically, they exist by trying to blow out old food products at deeply discounted prices so that the manufacturer or distributor who sold the close date inventory can recover some value for the product, or at least avoid disposal costs. You can not expect people who have never been in that type of store to believe you ,which is why they wanted you to post the receipt. It seems you did not take it that way. |
