One of the dumbest things Trump did was the deferral of SS taxes for federal workers. Pointless, love having less in my check now. Made no sense to do. Grrr.

Watched my paycheck drop a few hundred for repayment and the additional of increasing my 401k withholding.
|

My wives check dropped nearly $200 every 2 weeks.
It's bullshit. She got a raise to G7 level 2, but her check looks like she makes less than a G5 level 2. |

Correct me if I am wrong … but you aren't *actually* getting less are you?
You are now paying what you would have anyway? So, in effect, you are really just evening out … you're just on the un-fun side of the equation now. |

Also, you knew it was coming, so why didnt you save it? Nice intetest free loan to those with self control

Stupid to let you keep your money longer...
I think everyone in America should have nothing taken out, then write a check once a year. Maybe our taxes would go down. |
|
Should move 90% of fed civ jobs to the private sector anyway.
|
|
I made too much money so they never took any out. Didn't need much of my stimulus checks either apparently.
I told the people who work for me that it was a temporary delay of the taxes they owed and that it was due later. |
|
|
fucking bullshit. My paychecks are just over $4k biweekly and they deferred the taxes anyway. I called to complain but everyone I talked to said I need to talk to someone else.
|
|
Quoted: Quoted: This. What's the difference if you paid it then or now? Some people needed the extra money during the height of the panic. Then it should have been optional. How did this affect you? Or are you just bitching about something because Trump did it? You don't need to answer. |

My 1% increases netted me $35.47 more per pay period. Better than nothing.

If it was up to me 60% of federal employees would be unemployed and receiving 100% less of their paycheck.
Quit your bitching. |

View Quote Somewhat correct, but you are back to "normal", plus paying back what you didn't pay into for the last 4 months of 2020. So, you are currently getting less net pay than you were. However, the repayment is spread out through basically the whole year, whereas the deferment lasted 4 months. |

This is an impressive call out thread to find Government Leaches ("workers")

And yeah, I think this whole SS tax thing was dumb.
Don't pay it now and just pay it back later made no sense to me. |

Quoted: Also, you knew it was coming, so why didnt you save it? Nice intetest free loan to those with self control View Quote OP is right. I actually did "save it", setup auto transfer of the $250-300 per paycheck. The problem is, they will not let us pay it back in one lump sum. Our ONLY option is to have it automatically withdraw. So it's effectively a $600 swing, from getting $300 extra to having to pay $300 extra. For no fucking reason. I love Trump, one of his most loyal supporters... But that EO was fucking stupid. |

Even better, they prolonged the SS repayment through most of the year. I’m supposed to get a step increase in June, so that will make up some of it

Quoted:Exactly what does the federal government do that private enterprise couldn't do better? .gov is just a competitor to organized crime. View Quote I think it would be a mistake to hire private companies to regulate and audit other private companies, do maintenance on nuclear reactors and weapons, operate aircraft carriers in combat, or a whole lot of things. If you don't understand the difference between a for profit company and a government agencies motivations I can see where you'd struggle. In my 40-years in the DoD I'm spent my far share of time as COR (Contracting Officers Representative) and contractor. I've been military, civilian, and GS and have run workgroups of each and supervised military and GS departments. Those folks are motivated differently. On purpose. Done with hundreds of man years worth of study. I don't think letting the lowest qualified private company bidder guard/inspect/audit/repair/use nuclear weapons is a good thing to start with. Even if their CEO is a disabled, minority, who identifies as a transgender potato. You define better as cheaper. I define better handling of nuclear weapons as safer as better, no matter what it costs. |

Mine hasn’t really changed. I stop paying Social Security taxes in the fall every year anyway as I hit my cap so my paychecks are always higher through the end of the year and now I’m back to paying about what I was paying back then anyway
|

Thankfully, I only got paid the deferral for 2 or 3 pay periods. I had to work a good bit of OT last year.
Also to the guy/girl that thinks the vast majority of civ federal jobs should be converted to private....BRUH! You clearly don't know the half of it. Some jobs can and probably should be moved to private sector, but there are many that would be to the severe detriment of our nation. |
