According to Bob Denver's book, "Beyond Gillian's Island," Sherwood Schwartz(the producer of the show) lied to Tina Louise as that she would be the main star of the show to get her to sign on to the show; and so she bought out her contract on a project that she was working on to be there. Tina Louise never recovered from that debacle and today she is very bitter about that incident which is probably why she never appeared on any of the reunion shows. |

It was a silly show, but there are very few episodes I didn't like. It would be hard to pick a favorite. I guess since I grew up watching it in syndication in the afternoons after school, it's strange to me to think of it originally being a prime time TV show.

I liked to watch Dobies Gillis. Correction on the name, he was Maynard G Krebs. Great show. We actually had a coffee house for beatnicks here in Flint MI, before the hippies became the thing. It was called the “Sippin’ Lizard”. I was to young to go, but my brother used to make the scene.
