Thought I'd get more responses in GD than technical. Have one of these and 5 mags. Ammo being what it is, thought I'd shoot it more. Any issues? Parts wear? Ammo preferences?
Thanks??

I have shot mine for several thousand rounds. No issues to speak of. It’s awesome suppressed.

I was going to buy one of these beginning of last year about this time and well shit hit the fan and I never did.  Was even thinking of buying one for my Dad for fathers day to try to get him to the range more...but nope lol

I had one the rear sight came off and hit me in the face.

Other than that it was a pretty reliable pistol.

Wear your eyepro.

I have one. It’s very accurate. Sometimes fails to pick up the following round when using cheap ammo, but other than that it’s great.

I had to tweak mine a little with a lighter recoil spring and a couple other small items, like smoothing the rails a little.  Now it feeds MUCH better on weaker ammo.  It always runs on CCI, but not everything .22 is loaded that hot.

I have one I've enjoyed for several years.  I replaced the slide with one that was milled for optics and put a red dot on it.
The only malfunctions I've had was with some very old Winchester.  Everything else ran great.

Mine was bent.  Front and rear sights were at opposites and still 5" to the left at 20 yards.

Good luck.

Love mine, and as mentioned, suppressed is awesome.

I put some VZGrips on mine too, gives it a nice texture.

Love mine. Fun to shoot. I will say it seems to preform better with better ammo. Mine has run flawless with cci but bulk pack does give me some hiccups. Not fully ejecting casings and such.

ETA...

I did switch out my back strap to one without the hump.

Have one at the gun store I work at and I have been contemplating buying it. At $279 it feels like it would be a fun toy to play with.

Where did you get your lighter recoil spring?

I have the Sig; seems to like hotter ammo.

I have one and like lot but requires more cleaning than other gun I have ever owned, I shoot suppressed and it could be cheap ammo and just a rimfire thing (only 22 I own).

I’ve shot the shit out of mine, no issues.

Mine works fine with or without a can. The magazines are also pretty rugged and when I bought mine they were about 140.00.

The only thing I can fault it for is a tool being needed for takedown. The rear sight did break on mine but GSG sent another and I have had no problems for a couple of thousand rounds.

Dirtiness is definitely a .22 thing. However, you are correct; this thing won’t Chug ammo like a Ruger Mk1/2/3. I don’t see it as a huge downside though. Simple cleaning keeps it running.

DO NOT dry fire it. Can dent the rim of the chamber, and break firing pin. Ask me how I know

Mine likes a little bit hotter ammo.

https://www.taylor-tactical-supply.com is where I picked up most of the random upgrade parts for mine.

I love mine. It is super fun

You can trim the bottom of the fallower to squeeze 11 rounds in the mag. I had bad luck with the high capacity followers. Even with extra power springs they still would tilt and either not allow proper feeding or they would tilt and get the slide stop stuck halfway between locked and unlocked.

As long as the ammo can cycle the slide, it's great. I shoot mine quite a bit and use it to teach new shooters.

If I were to have one, and I dont because guns are icky , I would use it as a suppressor host. If you use the CCI quiet ammo in it its quieter than a nail gun. Even with mini-mags its still quiet enough to not need hearing protection to shoot it.

That is if I had one...

I enjoy mine, it's the primary pistol for my 22can.
When you reassemble it there is a pin that goes through the slide that is held in by the slide release, it can be put in from the wrong side and will seem fine til it walks out and disappears in the grass.

I shot one a lot.   Firing pin just broke one day at the backyard range using CCI standards.   It has never been dry fired.

I found the last replacement in the country at the time, fixed it, and then bought a Volquartsen Black Mamba.

Skip the cheap shit and get a Volquartsen.    You're welcome!

I bought one when they came out, its Sig branded. That was probably 12, 13 years ago?

Accurate. Can be a bit choosy with ammo when suppressed but runs well on almost anything unsuppressed. The rear sight also fell off of mine once. I put it back on.

I've shot thousands and thousands through it. It's a good deal looser than when I started and the finish is very worn. I'm not sure I would buy it at a comparable price to a mk iv (since they're within a 100 bucks or so of each other now) but it certainly isn't a bad gun, just a cheap pot metal one.

If you enjoy shooting 1911s, it was one of the earlier reliable ways to get 1911 action with a 22. I never found most conversion kits to work well.

Disassembly is a little weird. There are several small screws and a couple of weird little spacers if I recall.

I'll cerakote or moly resin mine one day. I can safely say I've gotten my money's worth out of it.

The trigger is better than I expected although I'm not going to tell you it will blow your mind or anything. Just better than most other cheap 22s it competes with.

It seems quieter than most other 22s when suppressed. Not by a lot since they're all pretty quiet, but quieter than most. I think the p99 is a little quieter though.

@constitutionlvr

Taylor Tactical has a bunch and I also changed the mainspring to a lighter one.  It made it easier for the recoil operated slide to push against the hammer and complete the action cycle with lower powered ammo

I have one that's labeled as a "Colt Gold Cup"

Are all the 1911 .22LR's basically made by GSG and just rebranded?

Hands down the best running .22 handgun I own. Mags are absolutely bomb proof ! ( reminds me to get more bags)

Plus after a few trips to the range it naturally gets that thrown down the driveway look.

Make sure you get the threaded barrel

Many of the Colts are Umarex. I don't believe they are as highly regarded.

The browning is some weird one that isn't actually 1911 scale.
