It was so smart… it was simultaneously a critique of fanboy culture AND a love letter to the fanboys that spawned that culture.

All while being a very fun, entertaining movie. Also a perfect example of one-and-done… they didn’t make a franchise out of it, they just made the one and let it be it’s own excellent little moment in time. Great writing, amazing cast, you name it.

The first time l watched it l thought it was a steaming pile of crap that not even a hot Sigourney Weaver in a torn uniform could save.

Then bought it years later in the Walmart $5 bin, played it and laughed my ass off. Easily one of my favorite movies now.

Must not have been in the mood for sci-fi satire the first go around.

That movie was such a sleeper.

Sam Rockwell was probably the best character.

We watched it recently and I enjoyed, I had forgotten most of it, but it's not amazing or anything.

It was a bit ahead of it's time though with the superhero satire that seems to be very popular now.

Watched it the other night when it happened to be on.

I now more appreciate Enrico Colantoni's performance
as the clueless, naive Thermian leader Mathesar.

It's got to be in the Top 3 in the same way that Space Balls is in the Top 3 of all Star Wars movies.

Wrath of Khan is masterful. Although one thing to think about is that it’s much harder to make a comedy.
