I should have been off last week but stayed to get it done, worked today even. First Christmas eve i have ever worked in the last 25 years. I go back on the 5th and carry a few days over into 2026. I just finished the 836K, a 773F was just finished, a 990H should be done in the next few days. A 980 is down to the frame, a 988K was just started and another 773 and 627F are hare for CPT+. One tech fell on his farm and broke his shoulder and a welder is off, had surgery. |

There was still some residual pressure in there and when I cracked the fill plug, she jizzed all over the place. This is what I found when I pulled the drain. Guess it's good timing that it's getting a CPT+.

| Working on splitting the 740 today. To get the hitch nut loose, I had the hoist pulling on my 3/4 ratchet, heated the nut and still had to use a Big Chooch to get it free. Damn thing is only supposed to take out the freeplay. I seriously thought I was going to eat my ratchet several times. |

Been laying low for a minute and grinding away has paid off. I was approached summer 25 about a new position with a customer and started to pursue it. The work I put in at the company I was with went unnoticed and wasn’t appreciated despite asking for money so this new offer was extremely lucrative for me. This month I started with a large trash company in my area as the Manager of heavy equipment maintenance. Overseeing machines I worked on as a vendor (including a few I assembled myself) along with other types of equipment. This is a hybrid role with me working along side company mechanics to teach them how to work on the container handlers and other equipment. I’ll still be in a service truck and mobile but this gives me a chance for slowing down the heavy work on my body and upward career growth. |

We would get bearing kits from either a dealer or a local aftermarket place, depending on the price. |

| Only had one stuck pin. Lower suspension cylinder mount. Broke the pull rod a couple of times until I decided to torch it out. Then got to use the Big Chooch that the shop just got. That thing will move some metal. |

Early in my career, I assumed heavy equipment was all 24v. Testing an alternator’s output and wondering how it could fail so bad as to put out 10v instead of 28 made me dig into the manual instead of continuing my assumption. Sometimes folks don’t know.

I just put mine on along with the hutch. Spacers were easy except for lifting the box. Locker was too heavy and it wanted to tip off the forklift. Had to run a strap under the locker and support it with the crane. I used some quick detailer and wiped down the whole box. First time in well over 10 years.

Loaded up the 836K today, Its bittersweet as this was the last machine my friend and work college, Jim worked on. As we were finishing it up, he got sick and went on short term disability at the beginning of December. He passed away this weekend of cancer.   He will be missed.

So, the company started awarding the stores based on various metrics. Turns out my store had the highest technician efficiency of 2025. Know how we found out? A plaque was delivered to our parts manager on the shuttle one morning. Not a peep from upper management.

I just ordered brakes for the 627F, 4 brake drums, $3K each. Brake shoes and S-cams, $1K each. Slack adjusters and brake chambers are $1.5K each. Over $35K for the brakes is crazy as most of it is just Bendix or slightly modified Bendix. Customer is really happy with the 836K that i just finished a few weeks ago and wants to bring another in. We are too busy right now so they are bringing it in in April. |
I've had my additional charges done for 2 weeks on this rebuild. The same customer has a D8 in for a CMR as well, so they wanted to present both quotes to them at the same time. I started my rebuild almost 2 weeks before the other started on the 8, so I've run out of parts that I can hang and am working on his rebuild for now. They still want these painted and delivered by 1 April, the transmission hasn't even gone onto the dyno yet. I might get it at the end of the week or early next week. I'm going to have 4 weeks to get this thing back together, by myself, once they approve the adds, which will hopefully be Wednesday when they come to discuss. Not to mention the couple pumps that are still on B/O and drop box shaft that's hanging out in Germany.I doubt this thing will go out on time.

I have a shaft coupler on the back of the front engine on back order. It is still used on the current K models and has an issue and is failing. No on hand available, ordered machine down and 25 orders are ahead of us. We just had to replace one late last year and that machine was down for months until the part was pulled from the production line. Hopefully i don't have to wait too long. |

I've had my hand in two buybacks over the years. One was a diag nightmare that had been through a few shops as we got the short end of the stick. The other was a brand new GL550 that needed a fiber optic cable. New car, but not a new chassis, made in the USA, no reason we can't get parts. 0 in stock worldwide, of course. They found one, folded it up in an envelope ( ) and mailed it to me damaged. I think they had it for 3 days before the radio went out. Sat at the shop for 6 months and left on a hauler. |

I'm getting so tired of tech line. I hate that their turnover is so high. They keep asking for info that simply does not exist for Kia. Stop asking for PIDs per dtc for live data, this is fucking Kia, not Toyota, we do not have the data listed out that way. PID does not even exsist in our 20 page acronym master list for God's sake. I mean, I know what they're asking for in theory, but I can't give them exactly what they want because that is just not how it's done. |
