https://www.wpbf.com/article/florida-bus-stop-gun-stand-your-ground-teen-bullying/73849985 Looks like the dad will not be charged. The two teens are now trying to play the victim card and the NAACP is involved. Sheriff John Budensiek said detectives spent the entire day Friday investigating the incident, interviewing students who were on the bus and the people involved. He said the investigation found the father had gone to the bus stop after his 16-year-old son reported being bullied by a 14-year-old student on the bus the day before. The next morning, on Friday, the father drove his son to the bus stop. Budensiek said the 14-year-old involved in the previous day's incident was already on the bus when they arrived. As the 16-year-old got on the bus, his father began speaking with the driver again. According to the sheriff, that is when the 14-year-old got off the bus and confronted the father. "Now you have students on the bus that are yelling. You have the 14-year-old boy that came off the bus that's yelling, screaming at the dad," Budensiek said. Budensiek said other students on the bus then called another teenager to come to the scene. There were actually two 16-year-olds involved, according to the sheriff: the father's son, whom he described as the victim, and another 16-year-old who was already suspended from school and was not on the bus that morning. That second 16-year-old came to the bus stop after being summoned by students on the bus, Budensiek said. "So now you have two young men who look like grown men that are happening upon the dad, going at the dad and yelling at the dad," Budensiek said. The sheriff said the father initially held his hand up and repeatedly told the teenagers to stay back. "They got all the way up on him before he pulled out a concealed weapon and told them to get back, which he's legally allowed to do," Budensiek said. He said both teenagers backed away, the father put the gun away and the confrontation ended. |

There should be a school bus policy that once a child ….a “child” …gets off the bus, the bus driver is supposed to close the door and drive off. |

Why couldn't Florida dad just have a talk with the bully kids' dads? Originally Posted By zaskar017: That’s going to escalate… Indeed. Those teens were highly disrespected. Not only does Florida dad's kid have to be pulled out of school, the whole family will probably have to move. |

I disagree with you two on one, that father was more than justifed, to pull the gun and shoot if they continued to advance on him with the gun drawn. Those two bullies were going to assualt his son, he was more than justifed. |

Armchair QB the day after is quite easy. No dog, I'll not do a cost benefit analysis when my family or my life is threatened; it should already be done, and your priorities should be very clear. The father has since removed his kid from school and will homeschool. First, that is bullshit that public schools we pay for are unsafe for our own kids, but he did the right thing. Second, the father could have pressed charges and didn't. He should have pressed charges. Assholes don't change their stink when criminal shit gets wiped clean. ROCK6 |

They already did according to the news video. Technically the dad was committing a felony having his CCW at a school bus stop in FL. I would guess the term is so poorly defined that no DA in their right mind would charge anyone under that statute though. |

We have civil protection for justified self defense cases. If it was legal to shoot them, they or their next of kin cannot turn around and sue you for it. |

Cant imagine thinking going to confront minor "teens" who are bullying . and doing so armed in 2026 is a good idea. Did he think he was going to get apologies and promises to stop? He was going to turn them into rational thinking humans ? Yet another situation i would never find myself in. Get your kid away from the situation don't Insert yourself into it. |

All I will say is that I grew up in Killeen and at one point I was the white kid on that bus. It’s absolutely terrifying . My dad didn’t confront anyone at a bus stop. But he did pull me out of school and moved us 35 miles away to a smaller “less diverse” area. I hated it at the time because I really was going to miss the few friends that I had and I had a couple of teachers who were amazing. But it was probably the best thing he ever did for me. I miss you dad. |

ROCK6 The Florida ESA program pays about $8k per student for homeschooling. They will give the parents the state education funding that would have gone to the school. Between ESA and charter schools, enrollment is way down due to parents being sick and tired of their local public school. |
