The trooper killed was 31-year-old Tracy Vickers, been with the Big Orange for four years and was prior service with the US Navy.

He was coming off duty and struck the construction barricade truck in the rear.

They really don't. I have to drive 2 hours back and forth every day to work and the shit I see every day is unbelievable. I've really become kind of fatalistic about it and have started to think its only a matter of time before one of these idiots kills me.

RIP Trooper. My wife got rear-ended in my Mustang Bullitt....while she was doing 70 mph on Interstate 75; totaled the car, other driver took off. My F150 was rear-ended twice in three months while my son had it. It is now on it's 3rd rear bumper, 3rd left-rear quarter panel. I was thinking about getting a new vehicle, then just decided to replace the transmission in the truck instead. If someone is going to crash into me, I would rather it be on something I'm not making payments on!

I believe that the OP’s info is incorrect, the official explanation by the FHP Comander was that the Trooper was returning home from his midnight shift on the turnpike when he struck the construction barricade truck for unknown reasons.
There was no mention of another vehicle at the news conference, and there is no visible damage to the rear of his vehicle.

Still a tragedy.

I believe this is correct. When I saw the wreck this morning I did not notice any damage to the rear of the trooper's vehicle and there were no other vehicles at the scene that were involved in the accident.
