I'm probably going to be taking some days off for this one too. The Remake was phenomenal.
I'm very curious to see what they do with Zack. Anyone that hasn't played Crisis Core or Reunion probably should. |

View Quote I found him during the lead-up to FF7R release watching his New Threat playthrough then his Souls games playthroughs. I'm working on transitioning my channel to FF7 content because it's my favorite game. I have multiple playthroughs going right now. PS4: Platinum on OG FF7 Almost Platinum on FF7R I probably put in 100+ hours of FF7 games each year. I have been doing that since 1997. PS5: Almost Platinum on FF7RI PC: 3 Different playthroughs for YouTube content I'm planning on streaming FF7RI starting this Sunday I play between 60-100 hours of FF7 content every year and have been doing that since 1997. Rough estimate of about 75 full playthroughs of the original FF7 and 10 for FF7R. |

Interview with director Naoki Hamaguchi:
https://www.square-enix-games.com/en_US/news/final-fantasy-vii-rebirth-interview "What new story elements can we expect from the game? As with FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, we have been careful to maintain the storyline from the original game, while at the same time adding extra story content to flesh it out as a remake. In addition to the main story, there has also been a huge amount of new side content added and you can expect to see new story told through that as well! How does that new content affect the structure of the game? Unlike the previous title, which had new content made available to the player following developments in the story, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH has been designed to allow the player to freely select what order to play much of its content in. Accordingly, it has also been structured so that none of the side content becomes cut-off and you never lose the opportunity to go back and play it, regardless of how far you progress in the story. That means that you can always take a detour and explore the expansive and vibrant world whenever the mood takes you." That's really interesting. |

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH: The combat of Red XIII ETA: also this one from a few days ago: A closer look at the world of FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Looking at some of the early videos, the world seems to be fairly large, but not overwhelmingly so. It's not 1:1 like a real world, but I'm sure they want to avoid all the empty space that people were critical of in FF15. ETA2: The Collector's Edition seems to be going in and out of stock - may still be possible to get one if anyone is interested. |

I think the lighting on the ground outside the door is a little wonky. Also, Vincent is confirmed as not-playable (Like Red XIII in Remake), I can't imagine you'd meet him that early in Rebirth. |

Devs said things would be out of order, though. I already knew about his playability. I'm wondering about Cid, though. We'll be going to the Forgotten Capital so maybe the Temple of the Ancients, too, so Cid traditionally would be picked-up with the Tiny Bronco by then. Also, Max's stream was going over some Reddit stuff and the world map might be showing Mideel and the surrounding islands in exposed gameplay. They were trying to figure out where Midgar was and how big it is in relation to all of the journo play area. |

The "out of order" thing is what I'm most excited about of the "knowns" (as opposed to the unknowns like Zack). |

Hell yeah; the soundtrack for Remake is phenomenal. I bought the CDs and vinyl I'm so hyped for Rebirth. Check out how the world music seamlessly transitions to a battle theme and back again:
Other than Wall Market, that shit was obnoxious, especially considering the 9 dresses trophy I never would have done that, but it was the only thing I needed for the platinum after playing through a couple times. FF7R is the only game I've ever bothered to platinum. |

One at 75% of the way through before going into Shinra Tower, the other right at the last series of bosses at the end of the game. I can see some people stop right at those bosses because that's when it gets shown that Remake is a sequel to the original FF7 and the sharp story shift can be jarring. |

After playing through the game many times, a couple stretches from 75% through ~90% are the slowest parts of the game, IMO. However, there are some really awesome moments in there, too. Click To View Spoiler I'm referring specifically to Chapter 15 - lots of flying enemies. Aerial combat is the weakest part of FF7R. Really cool level design though - looking out over Sector 7.
And Chapter 17 when you're in the Drum - that was the worst slog in the game, to me. Of course, Ch 17 ends with an amazing boss battle and an awesome music score. |

I get the other part being boring; for me, I get through it so fast now I forget what it was like the first playthrough. |

The return to the sewers in chapter 14, a segment that has been criticized for dragging, was a complete non-issue after the first playthrough because I can blow through it so quickly. I bought the game again on PC, and completed the first playthrough in ~35hrs, while still completing all available content, which was 20hrs less than my original playthrough on PS4. A lot of nitpicky complaints disappear when it only takes 35hrs. |

I've put over 100 hours and I'm missing only a couple of achievements to get Platinum on the PS4 version AND the PS5 version. View Quote Holy fuck this looks amazing. I was skeptical when they did they remake, but I was blown away. This looks even better, like it could be one of the best games ever, unseating FFX as my favorite FF game ever. I'm pretty thrilled and interested about the whole Zack angle. I'm glad they did a proper remake of Crisis Core to give people a chance to see Zack's story. This game is definitely going to punch you in the fucking gut a few times. |
