Federal Court Strikes Down NFA Registration on "untaxed" firearms (Page 189 of 195)

For those of you that are much smarter than I am, and there are plenty of you, is it possible the ATF is waiting for the deadline to pass before they issue the guidance to possibly avoid certain scenarios or even create irreversible ones beneficial to us? What would be the advantage in waiting until after Oct 5? I mean at that point, the injunction become law and much harder (but not impossible) for future admins to reverse, so is this the endgame? NFA dissolution? Appeals are almost always filed on the last possible day. Did you turn in homework early in school? Same reason. |

With 3 extra 10rd mags it's definitely a noticeable weight, but I'm used to it and it's managable. This Recovery Tactical set up is definitely too big for the Remora. I do have an Osprey Arcane floating around somewhere that I had contemplated throwing an AP5-P SBR in and it would def fit in there, with a few extra mags. |

Work vehicle I’ll just throw it in an empty tool bag or backpack. Normal vehicle, just a plain looking backpack. The Recover and a few mags is light enough even a plain Jansport is sufficient. I don’t really carry it, the bag is just there as concealment in the vehicle. |

I currently have an AK in the back of my vehicle but it's definitely not something that can be toted around low key like a Glock in a chassis in a backpack. Might do the same with it in a plain old backpack along with some extra mags. Good to have options. As a bonus can toss some med stuff in the backpack as well. |

Except for rulings that go against things Trump wants, like immigration stuff, constructing ballrooms, firing people, election stuff, etc., where appeals are filed almost immediately. That’s been shown time and time again this year. If they really wanted to appeal, they would have done so within 7 days, when a stay would have been automatically granted. Now if they appeal, a judge could choose to not grant a stay, allowing the current injunction to stay in place while it continues to be litigated. There is nothing to be gained by waiting until the last minute if they really wanted to stop this. They had their chance and now realistically it’s too late. Far too many suppressors and guns have been made without Form 1s, and suppressors sold on 4473s, or in FTF transactions, for the genie to be put back into the bottle. Easily in the tens of thousands, I’d think. On the plus side, I picked up my first 4473 suppressor today. Turns out that the can that I was waiting on from SS for weeks had actually arrived at my dealer a week ago, but they had missed notifying me. |

I just think that 4473 cans are going to take a huge bite out of the rarity and mystique that has allowed all those shitwaffles to get away with this nonsense for so long. The more that your "one pistol for home defense, go to the range once a month" types interact with form-none stuff at the range, the less scary and obscure it all seems. Turns out it's just a metal tube or a shorter version of the duck gun back home in the closet. The goal isn't necessarily to jump right to Senator Scumbag realizing what a fool he's been - for now, driving up the number of people who hear scary news words about silencers and short assault weapons and go "that's not right, I've seen those, they're not that bad" is more than good enough. |

They allowed thousands of non-NFA cans on the street. Tens of thousands of printed cans. It has essentially become impossible to prove a printed can was not produced during this period. It is not perfect, but they have allowed a ton of reasonable doubt. Not as good as postpartum reasonable doubt, but I will take it. |

It is not perfect, but they have allowed a ton of reasonable doubt. Not as good as postpartum reasonable doubt, but I will take it. The way they wrote the NFA initially was that it technically wasn't illegal to own a pre-NFA firearm without being on the NFRTR or without a stamp. They just wrote there was a presumption that if you didn't have the stamp you must have acquired it after the passing of the NFA so you lose anyway. Obviously that's wildly unconstitutional since there should be a presumption of innocence, but AFAIK it was never overturned, and they got to have their cake and eat it too by saying "it's not illegal, but you just won't be able to prove it was legal, and we will assume it is illegal." Nothing is stopping them from doing the same thing again. Sadly it appears to have worked the first time and there's no strong evidence it wouldn't work again. Overall sympathetic to your message, though. |

LMAO Today, I'm looking at that, and rethinking my own choice of nighttime Defender-of-the-faith & homestead firearm in which I've just procured the final piece of the "new" one, suppressor came in yesterday, form four expected by end of week. Supposedly. LOL. Why a 4? and I live in AZ? LOL. Cuz there's a few dumbass cops here don't know the NFA laws as well as they think they do. You don't hafta ask me how I know that, either. Didn't use to be this way but the current academies don't always keep current on what NFA actually covers. Especially with what's been happening in Texas. Wonderful. Absolutely stunning win! Never thought I'd see this day but here it is and it only gets better from here because at this point, they CAN'T put the toothpaste back inna the tube! (sucks to be them. Not sorry, happy to see!!!) Anyway. Remember to document items like this, prepared to justify (read that educate) some officer that doesn't know because honestly, it's better to be able to do that and avoid taking a charge than it is to arrange bail from a payphone down at County waiting on the initial appearance judge.... Here's a link to Arizona Revised Statutes 13-3101 which is pretty clear covers all of these nice new toys we all get to have on plain old 4473's and such. God Bless ARS 13-3101 |
