As far as The Dukes movies go, I like it but Rio Bravo and McLintock were way better.

If you are going to post the best western film, and it stars John Wayne, it better be The Searchers

Unforgiven is a pretty damned good, non John Wayne western.

However, Once Upon A Time In The West is the best because it was written by three great filmmakers (Argento, Bertolucci and Leone) that inserted a ton of homages to the most noteworthy westerns in cinematic history.

What a great entrance for Bronson

Couple that with Morricone's score, complete with an experimental diegetic sound orchestration for the opening scene and awesome intertwining of each character's leitmotif at the showdown between Harmonica and Frank, it's incredible.

Not to mention Henry Fucking Fonda as one bad motherfucker.

Oh, I almost forgot Claudia Cardinale

No, because it's a re-do of "Rio Bravo" which was a superior film and not just because of Angie Dickinson.

The Duke reportedly quipped to director Howard Hawks "do I get to play the drunk this time?"

"El Dorado" is still enjoyable, but it's far from the best cowboy movie ever.

Dooood.  All honorable mentions.  But, if you're talking WESTERNS, it must feature The Dukester.  As our fearless, beloved dear leader, Joe Biden says, "Full stop".

I’ve spent a lot of time searching out and visiting as many filming locations all over southern Arizona.  From Old Tucson to Tombstone, happy valley and countless other areas all around here.  It’s amazing how many were filmed here.
