Yes, I've had great luck with Zenni too.  Make sure to get your PD measurements also...you will need that to order online.

I even do my own eye exams at home.

Zenni

Buy several pairs for the cost of one from the doc.  Keep lots of pairs around at those prices.

Another Zenni recommendation here.

I figured the $7 frames they advertised would be hideous and were just a teaser, but ended up being the ones I liked most. Bought them in both colors and they were around $40/pair with lenses, coatings and shipping.

Check that your insurance plan doesn't include a pair. Mine includes one pair a year.

Zenni is awesome. I have several backups because of them.

Don't forget to grab some prescription sun glasses while you're there. They'll be cheaper than something you'd even find at CVS.

Sounds like he is using is allowance on the contacts.

I have bought atleast 5 pairs of glasses from Zenni and I can't recommend them enough. They are totally GTG.

I wish i could use zenni optical but my prescription is too extreme for them to handle, heck mall places and department stores wont make my lenses either.   Now the positive side effect is i wonder if my lenses would stop a .22 as ive taken rocks and pellets to the face and they didnt even chip the lens 10%

FYI

For those who have prism on there script zenni is Not making glasses with prism.
GlassesUSA.com can make lenses with prism.

If you have good frames, relensing the frames is an option.

Exactly. I take my eye RX and scan it into my computer so I can have an email copy when ordering online.

Been getting off of zenni for years.

The same frames I got 15 or so years ago or so are still the same price as they've always been. Only wear glasses at night, and fall asleep in them a lot, and go through 2-3 pairs a year. Over 10 years I've bought about 20 pairs for the same price my eye doctor wanted me to spend on one pair from him.

Zenni is GTG.  You need your pupillary distance - which optometrists are sometime shitty about giving out since they want to lock in your business.  But you can measure your own in a mirror with a ruler.

The tricky part is finding glasses that will look good on you.  I would recommend trying on different glasses at your optometrist's and when you find something that works, check out the numbers on the frames.  For me, the bridge width can make or break whether a pair will look good.  I then search for glasses on Zenni that have that width and double check the temple length before ordering.  Or you can just order a couple of different pairs for your first order and figure out what works for you.

Zenni's polarized sunglass lenses are pretty awesome, too.

Another vote for Zenni.

They’re so inexpensive I can have several pairs to leave were I need them and not have to hunt around for them. My car glasses just stay in the car. Easy peasy.

Zenni.

Look carefully at the measurements to see how they compare. If nothing else, buy a really cheap pair of reading glasses that fits you like you want, and take measurements off of them for comparison.

Make sure you add anti-reflection coating. The water-resistant AR coating isn't bad either.

Depending on how strong your prescription is, you might think about the high refractive index lenses, but the no-extra-charge 1.57 index isn't bad.  The higher cost high-index lenses are aspheric and cut down on blooming from astigmatism, if you have astigmatism.

I did my last eye exam myself with the help of a Leupold rifle scope.

Ordered glasses from zenni at $8 each, and received them two weeks later.

Nailed it.

Another Zenni.

Have at least 8 backup pair in the gunroom downstairs.  All the same.  Good fit.  Good lenses.

Have a set of prescription impact resistant safety glasses on there way to me right now.  About $100 shipped with the Z block or whatever too.

Their regular glasses are cheap...price goes up with add ons...but consistently can get two pair that I like, loaded up, for $100. Shipped.
