About what I'd expect from someone who probably has no time for or personal interest in guns. He pays other people for that and probably only thinks about it after he hears a bunch of kids got shot up. Kind of tends to color one's assessment of the situation I'd guess.
He's not God and he thankfully can't do anything but put his opinion out there. At least he got the tyranny part right. |

Of all the people currently living on Earth, Elon Musk is the person I would most want to meet. He is a national and planetary treasure. But he doesn’t know everything about everything. He could use some more information about guns and the Second Amendment. If he focused his attention on the topic just a bit, his views would no doubt evolve. Not only is he a genius, he’s also a common sense guy. I’m not too triggered by this.

Who does Elon think he is to say whether or not you need an AR-15? It doesn't matter where I live or what my livelihood is: you can be attacked anywhere and the AR-15 is the best weapon for self-defense.

There are currently more regulations against gun ownership in this country than orbital class launch vehicles that could very easily qualify as weapons of mass destruction all by themselves.

Guy is successful and knows a lot, but gun policy is beyond his AO and it shows.
“Tight background checks” That’s not how this works. Background checks are only as good as the database, they are not some futuristic pre-crime predictor. If someone with a clean record buys a gun, you can’t do anything about it until after the fact if they commit a crime with it. If a prohibited person slips through, that’s just inherent given human error in the system. |
