Is this chain on the right way? The teeth look different than any of the videos I've seen. Feels sharp in either direction.

What direction is the drive link facing? It should be pointed forward.

Yes. That is some sort of safety chain that has extra rakers. Problem is the actual cutting teeth look messed up. I would replace it.

Not really. As long as its the right length, pitch and guage it can be the same chain any of the little gas saws run.

That saw has a built in sharpening system and uses a chain different from most others.
The chain is on correctly. Run the saw while pulling the red lever for 5 or 10 seconds. If it doesn’t make sparks then the chain is wore out. I made a slab wood processor using this kind of saw and it has worked very well for several years. We burn about 30 bundles of oak slabs per year in an outdoor boiler and we have worn out one of these saws and are on the second one after 8 years. I don’t think the average home owner would cut enough to wear out that saw. |

As others have mentioned, it has a self sharpening system of some sort. I sharpened the chain and did some test cuts. Cuts like a champ. Was impressed by it. Just a goofy chain I guess.
I think the main issue dad was having with it was the bar was all loaded up with muck. And wasn't tensioned right. |

That’s not a skip chain. Here’s a diagram showing the difference between full como, skip, and semi-skip. There’s also a hyper skip that has even fewer cutters.
