Yep. The lids became thinner, and the tuna inside is more chopped up and watery. It's harder to drain. OP has a point. Solution (as some suggested): Tuna in a pouch. It solves this problem, instantly. I guess that's for the rich kids. Guess what? I shop at Target too, aka Babe Central View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

The only way around here is to drain it over dry dog food for the Boxer. He gets PISSED if we don't give him the juice.

Any can of anything is to never be cut through and through. Always leave a hinge . You know by now that your openers magnet no longer works or if it does it won't be long that it doesn't. Or its completely gone.
Light finger pressure will hold the contents in place, tip can to side and drain. |

Bumblebee chunk light is some really trailer park shit, though, f'real. That's the Dollar General house brand, if memory serves.

I just open them 2/3 of the way with a can opener and stand them on edge in the sink for a couple minutes. They'll drain out and you can finish opening them with your can opener.
It's really not rocket surgery here fellahs. |

If you completely remove the top and smush it down then yeah, you're gonna have that fingering smell. |

If you're buying good quality tuna fish in a can you dont drain the juice.

Quoted: Why are questions like this asked? Why does a grown human male need to post how to drain a can of tuna? My long deceased grandmother who was born in 1909 could have shown how to do it....Hell, I could probably ask any 22 year old girl that feeds her cats how to "drain" a can of tuna or salmon. Good grief... View Quote 1. The same reason people take the time to type a question here when they could have done the same in google. They are lazy and want to be spoon fed. 2. It fills a void in their lives. |

Throw can in the air. Fire properly aimed shotgun(preferably 10 gauge). Can drained.
You didn't say anything about using the tuna. |

If you had time and privileges to the Hadron supercollider you wouldn’t have asked this question.
Tuna opened through mechanical means, HA! |

Did you clean the lid? Nothing like eating rat and mouse poop.

OP stop buying chunk light tuna.
It's a different species of fish than the solid white. |

Open until there's a nice hinge, squeeze lid and drip water into a bowl, feed it to the dog, remove meat with fork, push lid inside can to avoid risk of cuts, (I have been cut by a can lid inside a garbage bag I was carrying,) and prepare delicious tuna salad.

And this thread is going to make me open up a can of tuna for dinner.
Thanks OP. |

I'm not saying it's the only way to do it, but the paper towel method works for me. |

Poke hole in can, turn upside down and place in sink. Come back in a few minutes
