As usual, activism based on a geographic gathering stays out of reach for the working family man. View Quote And the first three weekends in November is deer season. I don’t miss that for anything. It puts a lot of meat in the freezer. I DO like the idea and I wish I could participate. Finances and feeding mouths take precedence when you don’t have a lot extra. Should have done this at Camp Perry or the new range the NRA is using.

@goatboy
As a NRA Life Member I fully support your position on this matter however, like many who agree with you, I unfortunately won't be attending this rally. With this in mind, may I suggest that in addition to your march that we devise a letter campaign that would truly reflect (larger number than people at the rally) the memberships dismay with the current course of the NRA. Maybe a template, receipt signature required letter that's addressed to all NRA leadership positions. The letter might contain templated language that identifies membership concerns and a pledge to cut off donations until there is a qualitative course correction within the NRA. Just something to think about. -------------------------- To: NRA Person's Name Here Subject: NO MONEY PLEDGE Template Language that points out the issues of contention and what needs to be done to correct these. Based on the aforementioned, I PLEDGE to discontinue any and all donates to the NRA until such time OUR organization makes a documented effort to address the previously mentioned concerns. I look forward to your timely response, Person's Name Here NRA Member Status Here |

First and foremost it would be shameful of me not to show up, given my proximity.
Second, what's our plan? What are we going to do? Where do we show up? |

This is a great idea. Hindsight is 20/20.
We have 3 date options. Rather than what is easiest, commit or don't. Realize the importance of what we are facing here. Realize the importance of what we woke up to this morning. The 3rd mass shooting, well 4 if we count chicago...in very recent times. We are currently under a renewed and mounting attack. Nobody else thought organize this. Nobody else brainstormed and gave a date. Hell I tried to do that my HTF and it failed miserable. I did not have the clout to pull it off. WE ARE LAZY F***RS WHEN IT COMES TO OUR RIGHTS. Not everybody can go and I get that. But what makes one event more powerful than another. A stand alone event COULD be good. But not if everybody that COULD actually go sits at home because they are tired that day. Sometimes you got to give til it hurts.....TIME, MONEY, THOUGHTS, SPEECH Hope to see you guys there, where ever there is. This is the largest gun forum in the world trying to make something happen. This is like NRA Lifetime memberships going on sale the first time. |

Given the BoD is mostly for show, and the Executive/nominating committee and WLP is the real power, how exactly will this get any movement directly against those entrenched in power, who have changed the bylaws specifically to stay in power and prevent outside influence like this from having an effect?

If AR15.com set up a donation fund, I will add to it to help get a responsible member out there for this event.

Due to other obligations I will not be able to make it but I am willing to help out any other way I can including monetary.

I can take a Friday off. Drive out on Friday, protest Saturday, drive home Sunday. It will cost gas money, but I have a Camry, so that won't be much. A cooler with sandwiches, some cold Mt Dew, and maybe one restaurant meal should be about $350.00. I can probably afford that, and I drive a $700.00 car.

I am in. Do you need help with the logistics or do you already have good men working on it?
Also, are we going to self-identify, such as wearing the same color BFL shirts? Anyway, awaiting further details... |

Quoted: To make a statement to the NRA that we will not go quietly into that good night. We will gather to show that we need the NRA and support the NRA, but UNDER THE RIGHT LEADERSHIP AND STRUCTURE! It's a fight that has been coming and it's time for us to make this stand as members and supporters. There are other fights going on in other venues at the same time. This is for us to show our numbers who support the NRA, but need it to respect it's membership! View Quote |

November is not a good month. Right in the middle of prime time deer season isn’t an ideal time to gather gun owners on a weekend. Yes, I get it, our rights are way more important than that, but that doesn’t mean it won’t affect attendance. View Quote But I already have the time off, I’m willing to miss some hunting to make a statement for the NRA. |

I'd go, and bring my camera gear, but there's no damn way I could afford the flight there and back.

Ask for $ help, set up a Go Fund Me, ask for arfcomers in your area to ride share and/or split hotel rooms...there are creative ways to participate. Can’t help with time off of work, though. View Quote Do what you can to make this happen. Understand that the future of the NRA is at stake and we CAN make a difference. I don't want to be in DC in November anymore than you do, but the hardest fights are the ones worth fighting. |

The Fifth of November
Remember, remember! The fifth of November, The Gunpowder treason and plot; I know of no reason Why the Gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot! Guy Fawkes and his companions Did the scheme contrive, To blow the King and Parliament All up alive. Threescore barrels, laid below, To prove old England's overthrow. But, by God's providence, him they catch, With a dark lantern, lighting a match! A stick and a stake For King James's sake! If you won't give me one, I'll take two, The better for me, And the worse for you. A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope, A penn'orth of cheese to choke him, A pint of beer to wash it down, And a jolly good fire to burn him. Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring! Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King! Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray! |

There are many on the inside who are already with us. (The side of the members and what is best for the organization.) We will win this fight, but we still need to have this day. We need to show the organization that it's power comes from US, not the other way around. The more we do, the more we bring, the more we unify, the more THEY have to recognize that this has to happen. Don't follow blindly and don't give power to those you do not know. There are games always being played by those who crave power, control, and reputation. This is about a singular focus on the organization coming back to the people. Will try my best to attend when the date is set and/or contribute $.
We should all remember if the number are people attending is very great it will send a message to the White House. If the numbers are small it will still send a message but not one we want T to get. |

Do we have an idea if we have any members who have spearheaded donation fund management like this before? Perhaps we could ask around or get some suggestions.

Just spitballing but how about coordinating with other orgs, the Save the NRA guy (Mr Dell’Aquila), Brownell's, GOA, SAF, VCDL, etc... to get the word out and increase attendance? I don't know any big wigs, just throwing it out, the more the merrier.

I'll make the drive up providing I'm not on duty that weekend.

I look at the working man litmus test like this...
-----I can't come because I literally have to provide for my family. We have to eat and make rent-----totally respect that.(includes might lose your job if you left) -----I can't come because I am saving up to buy a boat(insert other lame excuse)-----totally bogus in my opinion. Maybe your litmus test is different than mine. We all like different things. |
