Do you ever think, I can't believe I sound like that, or that's not what I sound like
Pretty much everyone does. The resonance inside your head makes your voice sound different to you.
It's the same reason most people don't like what they look like in pictures. They get used to seeing their mirrored reflection and prefer that. |
Yes, I sound weird to myself.

I have a punchable voice e. I automatically hate the fucker that I hear.
Its seems most hate their own voice and that's why many use technology , even analog to tone their voice for recordings. |
My voice sounds very hoarse and deep when I hear it, not very pleasant to listen to lol. Reminds me of my grandpa and his brother.
That's not what I sound like in real life. Weird to hear it and I dont like it.

I didn’t like it, but I’ve gotten kinda used to it.
I’m self employed and I record myself before meeting on big projects I’m looking to sell. Listen back and fine tune. It helps me to adjust the feel of the conversation tailoring to the customer before ever seeing them. Going into these appointments where I’m talking in front of a dozen people, confidence is a must. I have a stupid minor speech impediment and the recordings help me to completely wring it out. |
Yes, Im not subnet
My nephew sounds exactly the way i sound when i hear a recording of myself. I cringe when he talks. |
I have to listen to my recorded voice at work... I hate every second of it.
Failed To Load Title I feel like my recorded voice sounds intentionally deep. Like I’m faking a deep voice , which I’m not. Nobody else says it’s strained but I hate it. |

Yes. Monotone drone. View Quote ETA- Although the other street crews seemed to like it when I was stuck in dispatch (due to a work related injury) since I speak English, enunciate and don't sound emotional even when things are going nuts. |
I've had more than a few people say I sound like Nicholas Cage. I hate Nicholas Cage.
I used to have to make recordings at work all the time to be broadcast.
Had to listen to them every time to make sure they were correct. It was my accent that bothered me the most and it made me change the way I talked when making those recordings. |
No, but I'm surprised at how deep my voice is and think that it's someone else talking
I sound like Gen. George Patton in real life but in my head I sound like the George C. Scott version of Gen. Patton.
I wonder why anyone listens to me when I hear my recorded voice.

Florida Southern College in Lakeland has a number of buildings by Frank Lloyd Wright. One of which has a small, circular, performance space with a unique shape to the ceiling over the center. Stand in the middle, and your voice is not only clearly heard but also sounds just as it does on a recording.

I recorded a skype training session which I happened to introduce, surprised myself when I played it back. Sounded as sexy as fuck. Full on professional geek verbiage but delivered in a panty dropping effortless Pierce Brosnan peak Bond style velvet lushness. I gave myself 10/10 for that.
I sound like I have shit in my mouth despite being told before I have a radio voice...whatever.
Heard my voice in a video a while back and couldn't believe how much it reminded me of my dad's voice. He passed almost 2 years ago and I miss hearing his voice so it caught me off guard a bit. To my ears I don't sound anything like him but on that recording I did
Yeah mine is terrible, a droning monotone that sounds nearly retarded
it doesn't help that I ripped my vocal cords 22 years ago I would take my old true voice over a million dollars if offered the choice it is that bad |
Used to, then I heard it so often for work that I got used to it. Now, it still sounds different but it doesn’t bother me.
it's something that gets better with time/the more you listen to it and are around it.....although after a lot of recordings I still think I sound like I could be on letterkenney or fargo and fit right the fuck in.
Yes, I also dislike having my picture taken. I sound and look weird.
No - for some reason I have a radio voice, or so people tell me. (I always figured that meant my face wasn’t suitable for tv)
I sound nothing like the manly man I truly am on recordings. I actually sound like a little bitch. It makes me sad........
