My RSS feeds died a while ago and I just now noticed I wasn't getting updates on it.

Examples:
https://www.ar15.com/forums/rss.html?b=1&f=5  AR15.Com - General Discussion
https://www.ar15.com/forums/rss.html?b=1&f=189  AR15.Com - Homeschooling & Parenting
https://www.ar15.com/forums/rss.html?b=8&f=65  AR15.Com - South Carolina

Looks like they died November 15.  Is there a new URL to use for RSS or did RSS just get disabled?

RSS was not getting used enough to be maintained so it was sunsetted last year.

RSS is (and always was) incredibly useful, and it's sad that the modern Internet more or less forgot about it. I say this a lot, about a lot of things in tech.

But yeah, there's no sense in maintaining it if no one is going to use it.

Forgive my slight bit of pedantic retort, I was one using it.

I also do understand cost/benefit of it going away since I was probably one of 5 total who used it.

YEARS ago (2010 maybe?), before there was an official RSS feed, I wrote an app in PHP that scraped the site and created an RSS feed you could subscribe to. It made the EE nicer for me, at the time. It was mildly popular for a minute, among fellow nerdy members.

So…. I was actually thinking of how I could scrape the site after this thread confirmed it was dead.

I won’t. I’ll rely on other things. Just means less time image for me though. Probably better that way.

ETA: :grumble:  It should have said "less time in GD for me".
