I waffled a bit, but I ordered one. It's on its way to my dealer now. Now that I got mine, I'm letting everyone else know about it. All y'all who make dumb comments on the lack of gun content here should go to the gun subs on here and contribute. You're the reason they are slow. I like to pick my own accessories, so I usually buy the base models and shoot them a little before alterations. I'm not sure I want a pistol grip on a shotgun (never had one), but if I decide not to use the stock it comes with, I might look into some wood furniture. |

MAC has a pretty good rep on their stuff already. They seem to be a step above the other 1014 clones. There are parts you can replace to upgrade reliability, keep 922(r) compliance, and then that allows you to use a collapsing stock and the un-neutered mag tube. I used AI to help me do a set up when it had looked like I may have had a job in Texas, but that fell through. Freedom Fighter Tactical and Geissele were the firms that came up most often: Core Components & Controls: Magazine Tube: FFT full-capacity magazine tube to replace the restricted factory capacity. Bolt Handle: FFT "no-spin" tactical bolt handle. Bolt Release: Extended tactical bolt release. Optic: A wide eye box green dot sight from Gideon (Ask Mike Branson). Trigger Group & Internal Specs: Trigger Block: A&S Enhanced Trigger Guard available from FFT. The stock Benelli part also fits. Trigger System: A premium U.S.-made Geissele trigger paired with matching tactical components to ensure 922(r) compliance. Internal Finish & Springs: Sourcing premium NP3-finished internal parts (including the firing pin and matching springs) from FFT to achieve slick, corrosion-resistant operation alongside black external furniture. The only thing I have found that is not copied is the thread pitch for the screws that mounts the 1911 rail to the top of the receiver. I installed a Benelli Mag Tube on my Panzer. It was very snug. I believe to be from some tolerance stacking. I also have a complete Benelli M4 trigger group assembly with lifter that fits perfectly. Along with a Benelli European adjustable stock and buffer assembly that fit perfectly. |

I've got longish arms and still find the LOP to be too long, especially if you "square up" towards your target instead of a traditional shotgun stance. For anyone interested, check out the long thread about them in the shotgun forum. The Panzer 7 shot tube (~$36 at PSA) works just fine. I'd read recommendations to lock the bolt back for a while before shooting so I did that, no idea whether it helped but the gun has run great. Take it apart and thoroughly clean it when you get it home. Break it in with heavy loads; the only hickups I've had have been light birdshot loads under 1200fps and that was mag dumping it during the first 400rnds. Taran makes some parts including lighter springs for the gamer crowd. Most of what I've shot was Rio 00 and reduced recoil 00 during break in and it handled that stuff just fine (cheapest stuff PSA had on hand). Will it last as long as a real M4? No idea, but my shoulder isn't as young as it used to be either.

Whatever I buy will mostly sit in the safe, and I'm not planning on taking classes with it. Looks like by the time I add all of the recommended aftermarket parts to the MAC1014 I'll be getting close to A300 territory. For those who've owned one or both, which way would you jump? |

Side note, get on SDS's mailing list and they seem to have 20-25% off parts and accessories sales pretty often. I got my collapsing stock during one of the sale; heavy thing and I'm not sure I like it yet since the gun is already heavy to start with, but it fits me better now. |

I wanted a shotgun for one thing only, and I won't die if it has a problem, so I didn't want to spend a lot. I'm not planning to do a lot of mods to it, either. As-is it will be a huge upgrade over what I've been using, so I won't feel a need to upgrade it right away. |

I've posted this in the big thread, but it bears repeating, OP: break in that Turknelli with 100 ass-whuppin' high brass buck and/or slugs, then it should work well with everything you load in it (except mini-shells, I've never tried them). Depends on who makes them. My Panzer M4 is 187% dead-nuts reliable. |

I picked it up from my dealer today. It looks decent. I did the disassemble, scrub, and oil everything routine tonight. By then it was getting dark and I'd already started drinking, so I didn't shoot it. First impressions: The box is funny. I told the wife I was going out to the garage to play with my new toy, and I see that it's zip-tied into the cardboard flap - just like a lot of kids' toys are. Next: they include a sling. It's probably the worst sling I've ever seen in my life. They shouldn't even bother putting that shit in the box. It's embarrassing. It has a weird, soft rubber charging handle cover, which is complete bullshit. That has to go. The instruction book is pretty good, with really decent pics and instructions on disassembly and care. It came with 3 choke tubes: one installed and 2 others in a little case with a tool. I can't find a mark on any of them indicating what they are. Overall, the gun appears to be decent quality. Yesterday I bought a case of fairly hot game load (1275fps) to shoot through it. It was a good price, and I'm hoping it's good enough to cycle reliably. I also put the gun in the safe with the bolt locked back, per some advice I found online. This week has a lot going on, and the weather can be icky this time of year. I'm hoping to be able to get to the range in the next few days to try it out. I didn't take a pic, because they all look the same. |
