ELBERT COUNTY, Colo.   A dead wolf was found in Elbert County on April 3, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service confirmed to our Denver news partners.

"Genetic testing has confirmed that this animal is a gray wolf from the Great Lakes wolf population," the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said.

Not saying it's a Bigfoot but most likely  Bigfoot is responsible

So it made its way all the way from the Great Lakes?

That's a long way for a gutshot wolf to run before dying.

Are Great Lakes wolfs genetically similar to the wolfs the Colorado government released in Colorado last year?

Any mention anywhere else of how it died? I didn't see anything in the article, I had a suspicion but since it wasn't mentioned, I assume it's not the case.

How did it get from the Great Lakes to CO? Seems like a long walk - also no mention of it being relocated as they did about the others.

I live in wolf country in N Central MN, take my word for it and SSS any chance you get, they will decimate the deer herd and quickly move on to domestic

Colorado Parks and Wildlife might have brought in more than they publicly admitted to.  I’ve got a feeling the coyotes that are in Alabama now probably were introduced under the radar or quickly moved from another state where they were introduced with no one admitting it was a mistake.

No.

"...According to CPW, no wolf activity has been observed in this area. No tracking collars worn by reintroduced or native wolves show a presence in Elbert County. The animal did not have a collar or show any signs that one had been removed..."

See the link in my post above.

The collars have mortality sensors and they will pull cell tower data and hammer you

So drive your old truck and leave your cell phone at home

I hope someone brought it to a bar and "tortured it" first so the girls here can shed a tear or three.

They are in every mountain west state

Idaho and WA refused to admit they were in either state until suddenly "yes they're here and we lost track of breeding pairs"

How convenient

I've hunted a bit in Elbert County. None of the people I know there are attention seeking sociopaths. It would have been a quick, clean and clandestine shot.

As it should be.  Animals can be assholes, but they should be put down quickly and cleanly.
