What is an orc? To their creator, J. R. R. Tolkien, they are “squat, broad, flat-nosed, sallow-skinned, with wide mouths and slant eyes: in fact degraded and repulsive versions of the (to Europeans) least lovely Mongol-types.” More than half a century after Tolkien wrote that description in a letter, here is how Dungeons & Dragons describes the orc in the latest Monster Manual, where all such demi-humans are relegated: “Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces.” Half-orcs, which are half-human and therefore playable according to Player’s Handbook rules, are “not evil by nature, but evil does work within them.” Some venture into the human-dominated world to “prove their worth” among “other more civilized races.” Genetic determinism is a fantasy tradition. Dwarves are miners and forgers. Half-orcs are rampageous. Elves have otherworldly grace and enjoy poetry. Dark elves, known as Drow, have skin that “resembles charcoal” and are associated with the evil spider queen Lolth. As both a ruleset and a fantasy backdrop, D&D is in the business of translating these racial differences into numerical scores: Dwarves get extra points when they try to hit something with a battleaxe. Elves get plus two dexterity. Half-orcs’ “savage attack” lets players reap extra damage off a critical hit. All because of their race. D&D has mostly shunned the same approach when it comes to gender. The original version, from 1974, had no special rules for women player characters, but a Dragon magazine column from 1976, with the header “Bringing the Distaff Gamer into D&D,” gave some women’s strength scores a nerf compared to men’s, and replaced their charisma scores with one for “beauty.” Those rules didn’t stick, and the latest Players’ Handbook reminds gamers that they “don't need to be confined to binary notions of sex and gender.” Over the years, however, D&D has made only trivial movements away from racial essentialism. Sure, publisher Wizards of the Coast has removed, for example, half-orcs’ –2 debuff to intelligence. One faction of orcs has more complex, even humanizing qualities in a recent book. I can't find it. Someone on 4Chan posted a story about playing D&D with a friend who was an SJW. The SJW asked the DM if the kingdom they were in allowed gay marriage, and when told no, they turned the whole game into a campaign to legalize gay marriage.

Let's talk about magic access discrimination. Tank barbarians should be able to cast spells equal to wizards that have trained since birth in magical arts. To do otherwise is discrimination. All players should pay 50 gold to help send barbarians to wizard school and they will get preferential grading.

Yeah they already started making drow blue and pathfinder has all sorts of different sexual orientations and relationships.
If you are going to equate a fantasy race with any particular race you are the racist one. And these aren't even just all humans they are a different species of humanoid. Also you are generally welcome to choose features like skin tone and gender anyway. Of course if you were a white drow the other drow would probably ostracize you The idea of dehumanizing certain evil races in these games was more for the sake of expediency. It's an encounter where you are supposed to kill everything. We will make them all monsters and evil races so you don't have to bother negotiating for 4 hours only to battle anyway... I'm not sure what parallels tolkien had in mind when developing the races of middle earth but it was likely not entirely racially related. It was likely that hobbits were likely americans being from a far away land sheltered from all the evils in the world. I suspect orcs were intended to simply represent all the evil from Nazis to socialists to imperialists. But then those are just guesses |

First of all, I'll let anyone roll whatever they want, but they'll have to play it according to the way my story campagin works, and Orks grow from fungs per 40k in my world.  If they can handle that, cool. If they want to bitch and moan I'll be glad to ask them to leave, or if necccessary cancel the game and work with the non-toxic people to find a new time / location. There's really no excuse to let abusive people poison the game for others who are enjoying it. |

The joke is that it's so wide open that you can become the leader of the Mages Guild, the Thieves Guild, the Assassins guild and the fighters guild (the Companions) all with the same character in a few hours which is kinda silly for an RPG.
