Quoted: I m curious as to the occupancy of the commercial/office buildings and the impact of no renters. I have not seen many reports or talks about this. I also know that Omnitracs (formerly Qualcomm) moved out of 6 floors in downtown Dallas. That had to be a rather large chunk of income someone is now NOT getting. View Quote |

The covid numbers are barely creeping up again and I know teachers who are screeching that in-person teaching should be put on hold again for the fall semester. I think the daily reported positive test numbers went up a whopping twenty people this week, from single digits to high 20s. Yeah, they want classes shut down for 20 new cases.... |

Democracy is a form of government where the people get what they vote for. And sometimes they get it good and hard.
It makes me happy to see the good people of New York City getting exactly what they voted for, getting it frequently, and getting it good and hard. |

One factor not discussed in this thread:
-Aside from the disease, many, many business owners spent last year watching Marxists and blacks engage in insurrection, looting, burning, murdering. These business owners watched whole police departments stand by and let it happen. This will no doubt factor into any decision to return to city offices rather than continue working remotely. Why expose yourself to not only the possibility of another lockdown, but to war in the streets? Personally, I would think that working remotely to the extent possible, and moving any office facility to a satellite community say, fifty miles out, would make sense. You still have access to major airports and shipping, and you aren't dealing with corrupt big city Government. |

I think I can speak for most of us in the south (and probably the rest of the country as well) when I say that we'd also like to see almost all of the New Yorkers return to New York. I've met a few worth keeping, but they're few and far between.

They have entire floors of leased high-rise space that are empty, the staff has relocated across the US and work remotely, productivity is at all time high, and the leases won't be renewed. Quoted: Prices are down hard in Manhattan, I think the Chelsea area is the hardest hit at 25%. View Quote We lived in Chelsea and loved it until we got the 19. They completely shut the entire city down. After getting over the couf, and the boarding up and riots, we couldn't move down to south Florida fast enough. And the rent on our 980 square foot 2 bedroom apartment was $4,200. An extra $230 for each parking space, if you were crazy enough to have a car in NYC. We got around with Segways and beat all the cars anywhere, they have specific bike/scooter lanes painted green lol Before that shithead ruined the city, it was actually a fun place to just walk by Madison Square Garden, see who's playing, and buy some cheap scalper tix. Or go down Broadway and catch a show. Or get some great food. That stupid fuck ruined it. And they don't deserve to come back, considering how easily everybody just laid down. I'd walk around Manhattan with my official MAGA hat bought from the Trump site just to see the reactions, and boy that's a whole nother story. "Boy you in the wrong place". "Man fuck this white boy up". Which I have on video. Fuck em |
