For my wife, please. Her name is Shawn. Thank you. She has been diagnosed with colon cancer.

12-2-22 Thank you all so much. In the mist of trouble we got good news today. Please keep her name in your prayers.

12-6-22 Again, thank you for the prayers. We met with the surgeon today and while we would rather not be here at all, we did get more good news. It has been found early and it appears at this time it can be completely removed with surgery.

12-9-22 Surgery Sch for Jan 5th with a few more appts between now and then. I feel certain she is getting sorta depressed over it all and I don’t know how to help. I know she’s anxious and scared, who wouldn’t be, but I don’t want to see her sad. I keep trying to remind her of the good news we got from the surgeon and how much different this could be but that doesn’t seem to be helping.

I’m trying my best to not give in to the stress of all of this, or the fear, but I too am struggling inside, especially with knowing I can’t do much of anything to help her through this, emotionally or physically.

Maybe y’all could add that to your prayers, secondarily to a successful surgery and complete healing.



12-18-22 Turns out the chest ct showed an indeterminate nodule on one lung described as likely inflammatory and the mri ordered by the surgeon to pinpoint location because it’s close to rectum showed a small spot on her uterus. The mri also showed the tumor is smaller than first suspected and that it has not spread. Given this, they do not think the lung or uterus spots are associated with it but they do want her to have an ultrasound of her uterus just in case. Given her age and being post menopausal they feel it’s just a small cyst. Right now, surgery is still on schedule and a cure is expected. The tumor is in the colon and not affecting the rectum which is good news. Because of where it is they weren’t able to stage it.

3-4-23 Shawn starts Chemo this Wednesday. They plan for her to do 8 cycles. She’ll get one infusion and do pills for 14 days, each 3 week cycle.

They removed 18 lymph nodes during the surgery and pathology showed cancer in 5 of those and she was given a diagnosis of stage 3. We were expecting a much earlier stage and the news of stage 3 came as a shock to us.
