Thieves target EV charging cables around Minneapolis |
now democrats are going to act righteous about copper thieves?
fuck it these charging stations have insurance right? |
no one really cares, its all BS and there is EV money hemorrhaging everywhere

They must have gotten tired taking all the air pump fittings.

Leave the cables energized, when the cutters ground out the leads when it passes through, they will find the copper thief next to the charging station... probably missing their hands and smoldering...
I don’t care because EV’s were always a slush fund hoax like Solyndra and Global warming and Haiti and Ukraine
If it stops catalytic converter thefts it might be worth it.
Of course thieves should be shot on sight in a justice driven society. |
Most of the grocery stores around here that installed them on the blind side of their building have had the cable stolen

Is it time to calculate the pollution created when some methbilly burns a trashcan full of EV cables to get the copper?

Same sawsall that cuts off catalytic converters cuts off outdoor charging cables for the win.

Our little hamlet is so back woods that we'll never have an EV on the roads.

So recycling to save the planet is gonna destroy the planet by not having EVs?

View Quote The videos of unsuspecting EV owners being electrocuted from the massive arcing when plugging in their car would be epic. |

These charging stations have to be a scam to collect government money. Considering what it costs to install them I don't see how they can possibly generate enough money to be profitable.

wait till the thieves figure out how much copper is in an EV , the value of a catalytic converter is nothin compared to the copper in an EV
Go for it. |
Maybe they'll get citizenship if they turn the copper in to the proper authorities...
I've been seeing jokes about copper in EV chargers on FB for months. Guess it's coming true now...

Quoted: Big shocker. View Quote You didn't have the capacitor to resist, did you? ETA: leaving the cables energized would be fun! What the chargers do is basically act like a huge relay. There's no AC voltage across the larger cables when it's not connected to a vehicle. When plugging in, the data connection is made and the car and "charger" negotiate the connection (the car has to know how much power it can pull) and then a relay is thrown and AC (or high voltage DC) is connected and the car charges. When it's done or the cable is unplugged, the relay is opened. Leaving that shit hot would be entertaining! |
Soon EV charging stations will just have a female receptacle and the car's owners will have to carry and supply their own cable that plugs into said receptacle.
I can not believe that the charging station designers did not see theft of a permanent cable as a possibility. |
