I’ve built two construction companies with partners and sold them both to the other partner. I’m finally able to build my own company from scratch so I need a name. My wife is very creative and is working on it for me, but I figured I’d ask GD.
The company is a custom home building company. Any clever names or ones you remember? I tend to like simple names but don’t want it to get lost in the area because of simplicity. I am shying away from using my last name in the name because my father is a builder in the area also and has his name in his company name. Any suggestions or resources to reach out to for names? |

Sphincter Brothers Construction
I know it's not going to help you any but that's all I got |

Initals, keep it simple.
Like TC Custom Homes (if your name is Terry Crews for example) |

Initals, keep it simple. Like TC Custom Homes (if your name is Terry Crews for example) View Quote Don't go down the path that hair cutting places have and try to be cutesy. Spell out your name correctly, and avoid pigeonholing your company by being too specific with the services provided. Make it simple, and classic. |

Plum Construction
Puns in names are always good. Or something like The Old North State Construction Company And go with a more traditional approach. Or get simple and meaningful, EQV Construction Esse quam videri Construction |

I always wanted to start an ironworking outfit and call it Stiff Erection.

I had the vinyl guy do my logo, my company name, and my phone number in big letters on the front doors, that's it. People don't have time to read a whole paragraph while sitting in traffic or driving by a jobsite. |

These names will bring you to the top of everyone's Google search:
Covid Construction company Corona Construction |

It's your company. You need to own it and put your name on it. If you dad has a company use your first name. For example if your name was Brian Johnson call it
Brian J construction or such or in GD fashion BJ's Dream builder |

Here it seems like all the pickup truck contractors have AEY Construction, Inc. or JL & Sons Construction, LLC along the side to the point that brand recognition just goes out the window, especially on the residential side. I can't blame homeowners for not remembering the initials of a company that looks identical to every other truck on the road.
The ones that get the most attention are the ones with "unusual" names & logos. There's a Blue Frog Plumbing that has a fleet of vans going around with a logo that still makes me chuckle when I see it. It isn't everyday you see a blue poison dart frog in a tuxedo with a 4' pipe wrench on his shoulder. The absurdity of it keeps it right there at the forefront of your mind. |

Put yourself in your potential customer's shoes and google what they might be looking for and see what your competition is (Though you probably already know who you are up against).
For example, from the little I have to go on, i googled: "custom homes NC" . I don't know if you specialize further or what area of NC you are in but I would really put some thought into what will come up on google. Make sure there is nothing similar that you wouldn't want to be associated with, you can actually get the trademark, and that you can get the .com website. |

There are a lot of people who seem fixated on male genitalia and construction work in this thread.
