Thanks,I finished reading all 117 pages the other day and I'm rereading the last 20 or so.Making this thread a permanent sub-forum has neen brought up several times in the past and I'm all for it! I've been to ECF and there's plenty of info there but I just kinda always get that riff-raff at the country club feeling.
Everything I've learned about vaping to date has pretty much been from you guys.

It hits hard at first, enough to make me cough, then its easier later to vape. I get a nice sweet taste on my mouth at first then a rough feeling at the back of my mouth. Is that the nicotine at the back of my mouth? I don't figure it to be a burnt taste. If I kept the nicotine level the same and lower my PG/VG to 65/35 or 70/30 would I get the same throat hit satisfaction as a cigarette? |

More PG tends to give more of a throat hit along with your mg level. Either try increasing the VG level or lower the nicotine mg. Edit. Yes you will still get throat hit if you switch your pg/vg and maintain nicotine mg levels. |

Need some help.
A couple months ago some of you might remember I was tossing around maybe getting an RBA. After watching some videos I decided I didn't want to put that much time into it. Fast foward to yesterday and I now have a AGA T2. After watching PBusardos video a couple of more times, my first time building came up with a 2.2 ohm coil. However It doesn't seem to be wicking very well, and the taste is less than pleasing and not much vapor. So, Questions, How big of a piece of mesh do you guys use. I used a 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 piece of 400 and 4 wraps of 32 ga kenthal Using it on my Vamo, I have to set it about 3.5-4 watts and even that low it still taste burnt. The vaping chart shows that I should be able to run about 5-6 watts. I can put a few drops on the wick and the taste is a little better, but That only lasts for 1-2 hits. I also tried pushing a syringe down the center of the wick to try a hollow it out a little but that's not helping. Am I using to much mesh? Any other ideas. |

Does it matter when you charge a 1300 spinner, i.e. , it's okay even if it is at say 75%?
What case do you guys like? It seems some are too short to fit battery and tank pre-assembled? Had two cigs with morning coffee, tried a wakeup vape but it wasn't getting it. I haven't needed a cigarette since. |

Also, I'm sure you you already know but if you don't, help it wick while you're vaping by tilting it almost horizontally. I find my self doing that with my genny quite frequently. I used to roll my mesh up pretty tight but now I put a thin paperclip in the middle of it while I'm rolling it up. |

There are lots of options for better atomizers but you will have to learn to build your own coils to use any of them except the ceramic cup ones.Of the I've tried the ones that use the ceramic cup with a microcoil build can't be beat. I'm hitting one right now and it is destroying the really PITA dual coil build I did in my other dripper. Again, nothing inherently wrong with lung hits if they are working for you. |

So, running it only down to 75% will use more cycles per vape time and basically shorten its useful life is my understanding. It won't do anything to the battery though as far as it getting a memory or something. |

Regular cotton balls - I do boil them but it isn't critical I don't think. Pull a thin strand - it will expand. Make sure you can pull it through back and forth whil it is dry. 10 wraps of 28ga. around a 1/16th drill bit close and tight. Grab the coil with tweezers and hold it together without squishing and torch it solidly. The heat will keep it together (you want the wraps all touching) and oxidize it so it doesn't short across the wraps. Put the bit back in to install it so it doesn't pinch a coil down which will stop the wicking. You will need to replace the wick (takes 1 min.) relatively frequently however the coil will last for a long time if you dry burn off the crud when you re-wick. I was never able to get a mesh working well, but this seems impossible to screw up. It will heat evenly from the center out and as said gives a killer hit. |

The DE razor guys(me being one of them) got a forum section after our team thread went pretty far and I honestly didn't think it would get much traffic, and so far it's not. I'm certain an e-cig/vapor section would be a hit because this is an extremely fast growing technology/trend. |

| I am having major issues with one of my Protank 2s. They are the tanks I got over a month ago with my starter kit and one has always done better than the other. The one that has been giving me trouble has been flooding and it has only gotten worse recently. The other day I filled it with Thug Juice and it started popping, gurgling and I end up with a mouth full of juice. I tried 2 new coils, one that came with the tank and another from a pack of replacement coils and it didn't fix the issue. I checked the base for cracks and made sure the O ring was still in good condition. I even tried the Thug Juice in my other tank to make sure it wasn't a issue with the juice. The only issue with the tank that I can notice is that the threads on the on the base and where it screws into the tank are stripped a bit at the beginning, I just have to be careful not to let it cross thread when I start to screw it in, but after that it goes in fine. I can't see how that would be causing the flooding because everything still fits together snugly, but it may point to the fact that I got a poorly built tank. I emailed MFS about the issue 2 days ago but they haven't responded yet. Any clue what is going on with my tank or any easy fixes I should try? |

The only issue with the tank that I can notice is that the threads on the on the base and where it screws into the tank are stripped a bit at the beginning, I just have to be careful not to let it cross thread when I start to screw it in, but after that it goes in fine. I can't see how that would be causing the flooding because everything still fits together snugly, but it may point to the fact that I got a poorly built tank. I emailed MFS about the issue 2 days ago but they haven't responded yet. Any clue what is going on with my tank or any easy fixes I should try? Take the tank off the battery and blow through the drip tip to clear the air channel. |

It expands and fills the gap where the wick is better than silica. I'm not saying to rebuild the coil if you don't feel comfortable, just a wick replacement. Take the top "chimney" off and then remove all the wicks and take a small bit of cotton off of a cotton ball, going with the grain so to speak. Twist it up in between your fingers and then thread it into the existing coil. It should slide in VERY easily. Don't worry about that, like I said before it will expand. Then put the chimney back on and trim the cotton. Once assembled place upright for ~5 min. Then take a couple quick, sharp pulls without pressing the fire button. After this you should be good to go. |

I did pull one of the coils apart the other day and it looked like it could have too much of a gap at the wick, but I wasn't sure after I had the same issue with two different replacement coils. I have read about people adding wicks, but I have also read about people removing them. I may try using the cotton to replace the two top wicks and leave the one that goes through the coil alone (baby steps). That could keep too much fluid from leaking into the stem while keeping the coil wet. I only have cotton squares so I will have to pick up some cotton balls and give it a try. My other PT2 is doing great, but I am really liking the Mini PT2 because it lasts just as long as one 650 mAh battery, it fits nicely in my pocket, and I tend to switch flavors often. I find myself dumping a bit of fluid out of my PT2 because I am ready to switch to another flavor. A 1300 mAh battery would be better match with the PT2, which may be a good setup with a tank full of the menthol blend I smoke most often. I am trying not to spend too much on this, I still like the idea of it being cheaper than smoking. |

No need to reinvent the wheel - trust me it sucks having a bunch of supplies that have become obsolete in your repertoire. You definitely want to do a microcoil. Get 30ga kanthal and a bag of cotton balls. Maybe some 28ga but that is going to be hell when you put back the grommet and pin. That is all you really need, but you might also want some silica so you don't have to change wicks as often. I sometimes use 2.5mm silica and debraid it then use a wire loop to pull two doubled over strands through a 1/16" microcoil. For doing your wraps you want an 18ga (.050") needle for the build I quoted below. I use a 1/16th drill bit for all of mine. Day 3 and one of my Vision Spinners goes down. I pried the battery post up and seems to be working again. "Three is one" is how I'm going to have to roll with these.
ETA: I'm seriously looking at getting one of these, eventually: Touchwood Mod |
