Below is a series of CCTV captures from China Army's Service Research Academy, where researchers showing off a handhold Gauss Gun. Considering how small those ferromagnetic"needles" are, this little toy can carry a lot of "ammo" that packs no punch nor range. Not sure what the real military application here outside of academy research preparing for a pending alien invasion. China Army -- I am telling you-- there's nothing to worry, we all know that Alien is only interested in invading LA and/or Tokyo. Ok, Ok, maybe London at times but never ever Beijing. http://china-defense.blogspot.com/2020/06/photos-of-day-china-army-playing-with.html |

The problem with that sort of weapon has always been having a very dense energy storage mechanism that is capable of sourcing a lot of energy in a very sort interval of time.
I see nothing that leads me to believe that problem has been solved. |

The kind of batteries we have today that can power drones and electric cars was just fantasy a short while ago. |

They're really putting on a show lately. They must be nervous.

So since it isn't a firearm, you can buy them from Wish and the ATF can't do shit?

People have been working on this for decades. Nobody has come close.
If they had, we would have a forum devoted to building them. |

That thing's gonna go up like an over-charged Tau Cannon in practice if it does more than lob ping pong balls.

Just like their fabled laser rifle. It’s meant to look high tech, not do anything. There’s a reason we don’t have flechette guns, and it’s not for lack of trying. Doesn’t work as well in real life as it does in SciFi. Which is why our actual work is more polymer-cased and caseless ammo rather than these (really old) ideas. This keeps bringing to mind the old Soviet parades, where you might see bonafide new weapons next to mockups made to look scary.

Doesn't that mean we have something similar and they've stolen the technology?

And if I had the money I’d love to buy a gyrojet...though the ammo...looking like at least $40 a shot on gunbroker. Totally impractical, but it would be fun to have. I’d be better off getting a .50 cal, though. |

Fusion cores need to hurry the fuck up.
Actually.... OTC radiation treatment probably needs to happen first |
