Are you completely insane? Or do you just hate your table saw that much?

View Quote Wow, how did they find a white guy to hang sheetrock? |

I ripped a bunch of foil faced rigid foam insulation with tablesaw once. Once. What a fricken mess on the jobsite!
Thought I would save time. Lol. |

OP:
Go to 1:50 to see the technique for ripping an 8 ft sheet. He only does a short cut, but it's the same for a full sheet: How to Cut Drywall EFFICIENTLY! |

I've hung a lot of drywall and also have a nice table saw. I've never even once dreamed of cutting drywall on it.
|

Pretty sure that's how the large drywall shops are prefabing corners these days. 45 degree cut+ glue. They come out damn strong.
|
|
Why bother?
Cutting with a utility knife is hundreds of times faster and easier. Score the sheet deeply, slide to the edge of the table and snap. |

Be sure to run a garden hose on the kerf to keep dust down and extend blade life.

Quoted: I might give that a try. My biggest problem is just keeping the knife perfectly straight and following the line. View Quote You should be putting your cut edges into corners whenever possible, except of course around doors and windows. Since no framing is ever completely square, you shouldn't be cutting for a tight fit anyways. |

Wow, what a mess. View Quote Yep, linked earlier, but that saw is primarily designed for cutting into mounted sheets. Hence, the blade depth and dust collection. Not inexpensive, but it absolutely rocks for that purpose. I haven't found anything better, which started me down the path of the Makita LXT line, since I had the batteries. Bonus: built-in anti theft detection! |

Quoted: Reciprocating toothed blade. A Sawzall or even a regular jig saw would do better than a circular table saw. A circular skill saw would also be better than a table saw, but it would make almost as big of a mess and screw up the work pieces and probably the blade. A utility knife doesn't have teeth. Even this would be better than a utility knife: https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/481717/maxresdefault__1__jpg-1921959.JPG View Quote Nope. |

All you need is a drywall T-Square and a utility knife. Easy to do by yourself. I drywalled my 1600 sq.ft. basement all alone. Don't make it harder than what it really is... Score it and snap it. Done.
