I swear, whoever issues next year's buzzwords better come up with better shit than "tolerance stacking" and "photonic barrier".
It's like the gun world version of synergies. |

Quoted: "Tolerance stack" is a fairly common engineering term. View Quote I’m acquainted with term “stacking of tolerances” since the late 1970s when I was first doing QC/QA & shipping in a real machine shop, with analog non-CNC Bridgeports & lathes. One of my summer projects was measuring our products to figure out how to change our specs to minimize this very problem. But, the end-user—running our offerings, led to paradigm shifting, next level ephemera. Photonic barrier be damned. The end-user serviceability was the game changer. Seriously. |

I'm not sure there's other words to discuss tolerance stacking or photonic barriers.
Let's table this, do a Kanban, circle around and do some out-of-the-box thinking on this. |

I'd never heard "photonic barrier" before, but apparently it's a thing.

I worked at the operational command near Los Angeles, the headquarters was at Fort Meade MD between DC and Baltimore.
We all spent 20-25 years in military broadcasting together, some of us do the technical work, others switch to the admin side. Damn those admin people make up their own damn words. They spend tens of thousands of dollars to bring in a college professor to teach them something new and unique and then run off with the latest buzz words and processes speaking in a language that communicates nothing other than their inability to reason correctly. Those of us on the west coast are like "kanban" what's a kanban giggling out of camera range. |

"tolerance stacking" is the reason Shield Arms magazines work for shit in my G48 - or so I have read.
(Thank you PSA, for making the 15 round micro-dagger magazine!) |

Sorry to hear about your weak Maglite and out of spec Anderson rifle.

'Pray tell' was the one that used to irritate me, luckily is has fallen beyond the photonic barrier.

You’re out LARPing with some of your Goon pals trying out your new fancy PVS14 and you look across the road to try to see if old man Jamison’s 19 yr old daughter is doing the no pants dance with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, there is a streetlight between you and the trampoline (it was called a jumpaline until your mom got on it) which you suspect they are using as a fuckpad. The light between you and your target thag prevents you from seeing something clearly on the other side is a photonic barrier. |

Out of tolerance means somebody fucked up and that makes work for managers.
Vocab sliding to ‘tolerance stacking’ makes it sound like a magic genie got a hand job, so there’s no Cause and Corrective Action responsibility to interfere with important chart making and meetings for budget allocation bingo. It’s all rather hierarchal. |

Much tactical, but this dude's photonic barrier is hard to breach.

I have signed drawings with a warning note that machining to maximum dimensions will result in an overweight part that will be rejected. That's old school thinking, now it would be ignored, not that anyone cares much about keeping weight out of fighters. Or airliners. |

Quoted: Bonus tolereance for the win. View Quote One of our QC guys has a rather poor understanding of all things gd&t. He loves letting us know how we have "all this bonus tolerance to use use because of LMC/MMC." Unfortunately his understanding is the opposite of every reference material I can show him. He refuses to budge. It's a good thing we make our shit dead-on or he'd be rejecting all our parts. He's a great guy otherwise and I work with him on his interpretations often. |

Since when has tolerance stacking been a buzzword ? It’s a pretty universal engineering principle
