You never know what you’re gonna get...

Yesterday we got a batch of P365’s in. A coworker of mine was debating buying one. We disassembled one (pictured on the right), and noticed the shiny wear marks. He decided that he would wait a year or so for SIG to work the bugs out.

This morning I decided to disassemble the other one we have left (pictured on the left), and much to my surprise found fresh raw milling marks.

I think SIG might be in a hurry to get these to market....

I’d like to upgrade from my XDS. Can’t afford it now. Looks like waiting is the option

Well, that's shitty.  I guess I'll be disassembling one if I want to buy it.

With all the problems that have been encountered with this pistol, I can't figure why people would be in a hurry to get one.

I have one, no problems with it at all.  Absolutely love it.  For a new carrier, the trigger may be a little light as an EDC with no safety but that is what training if for, right?

Friend who works at another shop has sent every P365 they have sold back for repair. Mix of strikers breaking and failures to feed. Small sample group of 4 guns IIRC.

Yup that and broken Strikers. I love mine, the size and capacity for carrying aiwb is perfect for me. I forget I'm even carrying it and I've got 12+1 ready to go.

Time will tell if it's worthy though of edc, for now I don't completely trust it. Hopefully s&w or glock come out with something similar (same size and capacity)

Looks like it’s a part of the molding process for where the thumb safety (optional) goes. Here is a close up.

Here's my $.02. I purchased mine last Friday. Today was the first chance I had to shoot it. I put 100 rounds of S&B FMJ through it. It ran flawless. The recoil was very mild as compared to my other mini 9's. ie. Rohrbaugh R9, G26, G43, Kimber Micro 9, Sig p938, S&W Shield. It was not "snappy" to shoot. Accuracy is relative to the shooter, but I find it very acceptable. I could have easily shot another 100 rounds, but time didn't permit.  I am very pleasantly surprised with it. YMMV.

Obligatory pic. with my Koch Tool.

From what we have heard the barrel problem is fixed. That’s what’s making those slides look like that. Some are in the wild without the fix.

I want to want one but all of the negative reports are causing me to lose confidence. At best, I MIGHT buy one in a year or so IF Sig gets their act together. In the meantime though, if the competition comes up with something equal in size and capacity I may spend my money elsewhere.

We had a recent thread where an owner with a new version of the sig still had barrel peening. I guess with the rate they are changing things "new version" is a real relative term but it was recent.

Perfect examples of why you no longer buy a new Sig.  Let other people be the beta testers, because the product you buy after a year of production is going to have quite a few changes that are visible to the average guy.  It might not matter, or it might be the difference between it working for a long time or not, working great instead of ok, or being able to get parts or not.

It's maddening, but there's absolutely NO reason why you shouldn't know this by now.

<--- Has a lot of Sigs.  Total love / hate at this point.

Holy crap!

1. Two different cutters used to cut the serations.
2. Two different mold designs to cast the frames.  Look at the position of the circle that presses the frame out of the mold; it's different between the two pistols.
3. The diagonal cut at the rear of the slide that goes through the bottom of the rear sight dovetail is in a different spot on each pistol.
4. The left pistol's frame mold has a filler for the thumb safety slot that isn't even installed in the mold properly.
5. The pins at the rear of the frame appear to be a different size, but it could just be an optical artifact.

Sig either has no spec that these guns are made to, which is very concerning because it means they have no idea what they're supposed to be manufacturing; OR their spec is in such flux that two guns made a week apart have 5 significant differences just on a small section of the outside, which is very concerning because it means big changes are still going on likely without good oversight or testing.

What can the Sig P365 do that a Glock 26/27 can't do for a comparable amount of money?

Plus you get the added benefit that the Glocks offer more variations (Gen 3, 4, and 5 soon to come) and are as reliable as the sun rising in the morning.

This makes me sad. Should I cancel my order? Should I wait and see what it looks like when it comes in? Do I immediately go down to the range and put 500 rounds through it?

So conflicted.

Don't cancel it. If you have no problems, good. If you do, Sig WILL fix it. And they're turing around P365 repairs lightning fast. Tons of aftermarket support is coming. Greyguns is rolling out a flat trigger and less curved trigger in possibly two reach lengths. There is already a tool steel firing pin if you would rather throw money at the gun than wait.

It's not the first time Sig has done this (P238).
