I’m thinking seriously about one. Had Ford , Chevy and GM. My 3/4 T 06 duramax has been great, but at over 250k it’s time.
MPG on the tundra is dismal, reliability is legit. Looking at a ‘21 SR5/TRD package. My biggest tow job anymore is a 19’ 4200 lb camper. I’m gonna miss this one. Attached File |

They seem pretty bulletproof. I need a longer bed with the crew cab, so f-250 gas is about perfect. The new 7.3 and even the 6.2 will get close to the mpg of the Tundras. F-250s have nice towing features standard, 39ft 6k lbs travel trailer, no need for weight distribution or sway bars.
But if you don’t need that, 1/2 tons are more comfortable to drive and feel faster. |
|
That duramax has been very good to me, stuff is bound to start wearing out soon. Great time to sell it, lousy time to buy a new truck. There is ONE tundra at my only dealer now.
Just don’t need or want another 3/4T truck now. |
|
You've got no choice but the Tundra. Awesome truck, but like you said the mpg kinda sucks. Incoming tax hikes are something to consider, but if you need a full size truck, you need a full size truck.

2021 is the last year for the V8.
2022 models are strictly turbo charged V6's. I have a 2019 Limited and I'll drive it till it dies. When it does I'll be looking for something else that has a V8. |

Towing, it's about the same as the rest. It'll tow 4200lbs with ease. I don't recall what comes in the TRD package, but get the TRD anti-sway bars front and rear, they make the thing handle a LOT better than stock. |

When gas hits 5 bucks I’ll probably be a little sorry, but I really don’t drive more than 6-7k miles a year. |

2019 DC here. Mag gray, very similar to the 2018 above, except total chrome delete and different bars. Got 16.7 MPG on last big trip, typically around 14 towing my boat. Had a Tacoma before that, and a 2004 F150 Super Crew before that. Very happy with the "19 Tundra DC SR5. Except the mileage, but - when you put your right foot down, it scats pretty well. Especially with beast (Tow) mode enabled.

My '18 is still low miles, but I've considered trading for the last year of the V8 when it happens. That said if it's this year I probably can't swing it. |

Y'all might want to consider the ramifications of Xiden's war on the oil industry before you buy a truck which will put you in the poor house just to feed it.

They drink a lot of gas, but they're reliable as hell. Does great offroading too with the right upgrades.

On long trips, if you're really easy on the right pedal you can get some decent mileage. Best tank I ever had was 20.12 mpg. It was 485 miles, mostly highway, taking it easy. Second best I ever got was 19.86.
More typically though, my Tundra is used on side roads a lot, shorter trips; I'm averaging 15-16 mpg at best. And I'm good with that. They have a good reputation for reliability. The way I look at it, one significant out of warranty repair will quickly wipe out years' of gas savings I could have had with a different truck. |
|
115k on my 2012
No issues whatsoever. Sad to hear about the V8 going away. Great motor. Passes every truck out there unless they are at a gas station. |

I test drove a 21, it was wonderful, really liked it. Bought a 4runner instead since it fits my driving style and needs more.
MPG doesn't matter as much to me being in a colder climate and snow. Auto start/stop is a deal breaker on the Ford/GM/Ram trucks, I don't want it and don't need it. Oh and the union shit. Toyota ftw. |

I have a 2017 TuRD Pro Tundra. My hate list is short. Hate the lack of usable storage space in the crew max cab. No storage under the rear seat and no access to behind the seat. I installed an aftermarket three bay storage bin under the seat but it is dismal at best. They really could have done better. I hate the 5 1/2 foot bed. It sucks balls. I thought I could maybe like it but no, it sucks balls. Damn shame that on the double cab you can get a 6 1/2 or 8 footer but only a 5 1/2 on the crew max.

I will go against arfcom trend and recommend you look at the 2021 Titan yup I said it Nissan.
I recently went from a 2018 P4X to a 21. The '18 had no issues but I wanted the new technology in the 21 plus the 9 speed transmission. The did some refreshing inside and out and I think they did a damn good job. Plus the 5yr / 100k mile bumper to bumper warranty is pretty damn good. I suggest at the minimum take the new one for a ride. 400hp and can pull low 20s on a interstate run. Also a rear locker on the p4x. A few pics of the new one. Shit posters are here - I am out. Good luck with whatever you get!

Good input guys. I’m pulling the trigger on a Tundra. Soon as they get one in lol.

Good power. Shit mileage. Reliable. Ugly. Shit mileage...
I love my eco diesel for mountain playing and highway. I hate that it's Ram and their service centers, but the best part about it is there's not a lot of Ram in it honestly. Better at least drive one for the money. Tundra is more American though from what I've researched. my eco pulls somewhat slow but it pulls easy and doesn't care if that makes sense . It's not all wound up, noisy and wandering back and forth, burning gas like it's going out of style. Tough choices. When my ram is gone I'll never leave Toyota again, I had an 02 tundra that was the best truck I've ever had and it's still going with another owner. |

250k on an updated Dmax and Allison combo? She’s just a baby.
In college I worked at a chevy dealer and we’d see those trucks with WAAYYY more miles, although pump rub was an occasional problem |

Kind of off topic but when gas prices inevitably spike with the new administration will used trucks be readily available later this year?

Good point on the Nissan too. Hell they might actually have one in stock.

Tundra SR5 TSS 4x4 with tow is a very solid value and holds 6_%+ value + on a 15k mile / 36 month. Yes the only down side is gas mileage.
The 36mo is the cheapest truck lease besides a Tacoma. Want to buy? Ask yourself how long do you keep them first. That way you can do a calculation on a straight long term loan (LTL) vs doing the 36 and a refi. 260k miles
Skid plate beat to shit, threw it away Heat shield rattled so bad I stopped and kicked it off on the roadside sacked out the shocks and struts broke the leaf springs, had em welded, broke em again replaced them The original steel wheels are so rusty and corroded they won't hold air, bought new wheels cd player broke under extended warranty I think an 02 sensor went the exhaust fell off had to replace that brake jobs busted the horn from beating on it (anger issues, Toyota can't fix that) shitty mileage It always starts, never gone off the road, never gotten stuck [knock in wood{ |

Best truck Ive ever owned. Averaging around 14mpg with the 3" lift and 35" tires. For those that cant afford to absorb fluctuating gas prices... go buy a fucking Prius. This thread isnt for you. Attached File |
