I'm looking at Proton, and am close to going with them, but Nord was getting a lot of love back since the old Demonoid glory days.
Suggestions or recommendations are appreciated. |

I had Tunnel bear for a long time, was good initially but got slower and slower.
Nord now and very pleased. Seamless, frequent updates, fast |

Are you guys making sure your vpn don't route traffic through china, and or are owned by china?

Why? What are you trying to accomplish with a VPN?
"VPN" is just a tunnel to somewhere else... and I trust my ISP more than I trust most VPN providers to not look at my shit. I'll spin up a VM in AWS and throw openvpn on there if I need to be in a different region/country. Or just do the work in that VM. |

I use Nord but it seems that Malwarebytes is getting into the game too. Nord just introduced some uber VPN but I haven't looked at it. I think I pay 99 a year for 5 devices. They are having a sale 79.00 a year.

Register a VPS through TOR using crypto. Set up your own VPN server on that.

Torguard. Proton is probably good too but Torguard is like 15 bucks for 6 months and their client applications are the best of the vpns I have used.

The icon is in fire fox because I added it to my "add-ons" in the fire fox menu.

Unless your threat model is limited to the RIAA or something, you should do your research from all angles. Just about all VPN's have some sketchy red flags associated with them once you start digging.
For instance, there are allegations that NordVPN (and ProtonMail) have the same CEO, Darius Bereika, as Tesonet, a data mining company. Their payments are also processed through Lithuania, a country with mandatory data retention policies, but it's unclear how that affects their [supposed] servers in Panama which would more directly tie your account to your actual traffic. This page discusses the Lithuania issue a bit more. Here's some more evidence about how these relationships were tracked down, etc. This page stresses NordVPN's suspicious marketing budget and reliance on fake review sites for marketing (extremely common for VPN's), among other red flags. Similarly, Express VPN pretends to run from the British Virgin Islands, but it appears to actually run out of Hong Kong with potential (likely) Chinese Communist Party access. It's also possible the VPN Scam site is an elaborate hoax intended to slander good companies, but, uh...buyer beware. |

I've been using unlocator for a while now without any problems. I can watch in market MLB games with it as well and they include SmartDNS, which is cool too.

I use Private Internet Access but I only use it for torrents.

Made my own with a raspberry pi 4.
You can also have it run a DNS server for adblocking. |

The two that I have experience with are Proton and Express. Both are GTG in my experience.

I have been using PureVPN since 2018 and I am satisfied by its services and features.

Thank you for that. |

Is there any downside to just doing your normal every day browsing through a VPN?
I'm really only familiar with people using VPN's for piracy or to get around region locks. |
