What's everyone using for tomatos?  I've mostly used Hunts dices and even Walmart's brand on occasion due when being cheap, but last week I used Del Monte and those diced tomatos didn't look as good as Huntz and even Walmart's brand.  Maybe it was just that batch I used.

Your Beans?  I'm kind of all over on this one.  I last used Walmart's dark kidney beans as that is what was on hand, but I've used Pinto beans when that's what on my shelf at that time.  I've also used Goya and Trappey's beans.

For chili, cayenne, and cumin spices I normally use McCormick.

And I usually just toss in 3/4's of a  bag of frozen mixed red, green and yellow bell peppers with onions from Picksweet when I don't feel like chopping my own.  The wife unit hates that.

How about crackers?  You eat crackers with your chili?  I normally eat Town House original.

Drinks?  What drinks go best with chili?

Which is entirely logical, since chili is a stew, made substantially of meat and peppers.
Chili is a stew.
Do you put ground meat or beans in stew?

Been thinking of trying San marzano for tomatoes.

Nabisco premium saltines are always what I use for crackers.

Last batch I used northern white beans, chilli and kidney beans.

I like to get a variety of the dried chillis from the Mexican section, reconstitute and then blend.

I like using an Italian brand peeled and/or crushed.
Beans? I like Goya pinto and/or black.

I don’t care what chili snobs think, it’s my damn food, I’ll cook it how I like it.

Peppers, spices, and I prefer small cubed beef to ground. I also add onion. And sometimes more.

I also prefer buttered cornbread to crackers.

If I wasn’t smoking beef ribs and jerk chicken tomorrow, I know what I’d make.

I like some of The Fresh Chile Co. sauces with the sun dried red variety being one of my favorites. Chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce is another ingredient I like to use sometimes .  I use these and other ingredients in many dishes. Breakfast , lunch , dinner , slow cooker whatever in addition to chili . Chiltepin and pequin peppers are also some of my favorite fresh ingredients. Good luck .

Them: “If you don’t have beans, it’s just spaghetti sauce!”

Me: If that’s the only difference, your “chili” is almost entirely unlike chili.

Things that don’t belong in chili:

1. Beans
2. Ground meat (unless it’s mixed with cubed meat)
3. Tomatoes
4. Canned goods of any kind
