I have acquired a baby squirrel. Fits in my hand has full fur and the tail is filling out. Its very people friendly.
I have raised kittens multiple times, but never a squirrel. Update!!!!!!!!!! He is eating 15 ML or so 5 or 6 times a day of puppy formula and pooping and peeing ! He is a lil pig, he burps when done and purrs like a cat! Attached File Attached File Attached File |

They are people friendly when young and can be raised pretty easily from birth but instincts take over soon and it will get "squirrelly" on you soon. try to acclimate it back to the wild ASAP. I have one that was raised and still comes in my garage for food occasionally, but it gets aggressive when it gets back inn the house. It will wait by the front door and bolt inside in the mornings sometimes.

Raised two of them at differnt times, both till pretty much adults and I'm guessing they still hang around my house and bird feeders(can't tell them apart) get a eye dropper with milk for feeding and keep salt away!!! is it shitting/pissing?

Nice pics.
They are so cute. Mine would steal food from my sons guinea pig. Enjoy it while it's young. Trim it's nails if you plan on keeping it otherwise it will rip your skin open when it climbs all over you uncontrollably looking for food. |

That’s the best place for them. I do that with new puppies. They pass right out. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Watch for diarrhea and bloat. Fruits aren’t great for baby squirrels. Have you done a ton of reasearch on weaning and potential dietary problems? Like metabolic bone disease and necessary nutrition? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

Adorable, I want to hug him and squeeze him and pet him and love him.....

That's cuter than a little speckled pup, but it wouldn't last anytime around here, because we have old speckled pups that hate squirrels.

Rocket is now mostly on solid food, acorns, hickory nuts from the yard, apples, greens and squirrel blocks. He is doing great.

Growing up, a buddy down the street found a few baby squirrels that looked to have been abandoned. Don’t recall all the details on how they’d figured this (I was only around 5-7 years old). His parents ended up taking them in and nursed them back to health.
They turned their entire breezeway into a squirrel habitat, lol. They kept them for a while, but ultimately released them back into the “wild”. Never went more than a day or two without seeing them around their house. Will always be one of my childhood memories that stands out. |

I have hand raised dozens of them. Things stated above are spot on. Offer some cut grapes that bugger should be eating more than milk at that size. Throw in some acorns from the yard and sunflower seeds/corn mix. It will eat it instinctively.
I have a 4yo flying squirrel as a pet that I did not release. He has stayed completely friendly and never bitten anyone. Flying squirrels are much more social with each other than grey squirrels like what you have so they imprint on you and think of you as a friend. Rocky can be sleeping in his house and will wake up when called and come see me. |

Little mofo has been acting squirrely as fuck this week. Wife and I bought him a new cage off the list of Craig. A good power washing and power rinse at the carwash and good as new.

The males are much scrappier than the females. I have had turn them loose much sooner. Flying Squirrels don't get scrappy.

Rocket is doing great, he is full squirrel sized and getting territorial. He can see squirrels out the window and doesn't like it one bit.
He eats like a king and shreds any sticks and branches we put in his cage pretty fast. Attached File |

they make great pets, not so much in the cage....
Mix some karo in milk, pour on bread chunks in a jar lid or similar. We always let them (in and) out. |

I've seen them on the Dr. K vet show. The people that have them love them. They need to be raised as a constant pet, not one you see and have contact with part of the time.

I am sure your Rocket is out loving to hate his neighbors now.
