Saudi Arabia is ready to throw its Patriots in the dumpster in exchange for them because of how poorly the Patriot system is working.

I’d be curious as to what the issue is, as I had quite a few of them fired right over my head in 1991. Bullshit new stories aside, I personally witnessed them work pretty damn well against Scuds in terminal phase.

If I had to guess, I would say the older PAC2 missiles can hit a Scud, but they aren't terribly effective at negating the warhead. If a Scud is launched at a specific point target, the PAC2 can protect against it, but if your enemy's accuracy goal is minute of Riyadh, you might need something more modern to stop it.

There's no other way in a centralized, or decentralized, system they would have got the okay to fire on a maybe.

They got punk'd bad, and Putin knows he can't offically do anything about it. Could he argue that Israel caused it? Sure. What good would that do.
