Russian private army Wagner was shelled by Russian Armed forces and their strongman/warlord Prigozhin (Putins one time chef) says he will destroy them. Shooting war is hot between Russian units. Wagner are the guys that took “most” of Bakhmut for Russia and then pulled out. Given the results in the Ukraine, it's obvious Russia was an overblown paper tiger. I think we all knew they weren't as strong as they were during the Cold War, but I really doubt they were all we thought they were back then. How much do we typically overestimate enemies? I think we might be overestimating China's capabilities in the same way. Of course, a bunch of guerillas in Afghanistan gave us all we could handle (same with Iraq and Vietnam before them), but the vast majority of our country was not mobilized for war, at least not to the same degree we were in WWII or even in Vietnam (or maybe not even as much as we were during the Persian Gulf War).
