I have an employee that lives right next to that place. He told me he was supposed to go in there last night to grab a tv but didn’t because he ended up dealing with some family stuff.

Personally, I hate going to my local Wall-Mart, I've had 2 shopping cart rages there, I was carrying 3 items in my hand, and these women tried to beat me to the checkout; this was prior to Wall-Mart announcing that they are doing away with human cashiers/checkers.
Going there is a real ordeal, Wall-Mart Corp has degraded my local Wall-Mart from a Super Center to a regular Wall-Mart, and many things they once stocked are no longer stocked, and many of the item they do stock are out of stock when I go there. And quite a few things are in locked cabinets or cages. I tried to avoid Wall-Mart whenever I can, but unfortunately, they are the only game in town sometimes. |

Walmart hasn't figured it out yet.
I have a 61 year old aunt who has worked at Walmart for 44 years. I have other friends who have or still do work at Walmart. You can't get ahead unless you move. Then if you want to get ahead more, move again. Seems like SOP is to blame subordinates for all of your problems. Hold them responsible. Discipline/document them. Keep them on the verge of getting fired all the time. Demoralize them. I can't imagine the pressure this time of year. Someone relying on their job because it is their career. Always getting chewed out and threatened. Direct reports are constantly undermining you. Customers are always riding you. I can easily see how a person there could snap. I worked for a Walmart for two weeks. It was a side job, and really just because I was bored. I had my direct supervisor tell me to do one thing. Then his boss told me to do something else. I got written up by my boss for not doing what he told me to do. No amount of explaining that his boss gave me different orders changed anything. They are following an old style of management that worked 40 years ago, but not today. |
