They want serfs. People who work the land but don't own it.
This always has predictable results. No ownership = no care. The only way to make serfs work is violence. Knights with expensive armor or camp guards armed with smgs, take your pick. And even then, they'll only ever do the bare minimum. It's depressing how intent we are at refusing to learn from our past mistakes |
