They are possibly now requiring that every brace needs to be approved as a total package of brace and gun.   So an approved
Sb15 brace on an ar15 will not be approved on a scar. Because SBT never sent in an sb15 brace attached to a scar for approval.

Which makes me wonder. Big companies that partnered with SBT, like CZ or Zenith. Did they send in their own examples of their products for separate ATF approval to be extra sure they weren't selling NFA items?   Or did they just take SBT at their word?  Seems the former would be more likely.  And if that is the case, many of these issues melt away.

My interpretation anyhow.  Since most of the braces are exactly the same. Just attach to different weapon platforms.

The ATF just like the IRS (soon most federal “law enforcement” agencies joining them) like to “interpret law” so that it fits their ideal of an ever expanding scope of enforcement.

Are you sure the SB15 is only approved for a certain AR15 model? It doesn't say in the approval letter no? I would think they just approved the SB15 brace itself?

I really have no idea. But it is my interpretation.  They note the brace must be attached to a firearm to even be looked at. And most of these braces are identical except for the weapon they are attached to.

But so far the language is only telling SBT to stop advertising they are atf approved.  The atf might not be after us. Yet. But maybe just forcing sbt to get their shit together and get official approval for their whole line of products.

Who the fuck determines what looks like a stock. And why does it matter if a brace looks like something when the core function is the same as the approved item. We are talking about cosmetics here. And that is probably one of the most subjective things they could do. And will probably limit any approved design to something that looks like a floppy fleshlight dildo.

They can easily deny every product submitted for approval under that criteria.   And they even bolded and underlined it in the letter.

Does the ATF fire the weapons? If so I am going to send them a Tac 14 with a kak brace installed for testing.

Like everything they do this opinion by ATF makes me ill.

I know the letter only addresses SB Tactical braces and there is a two brace exemption.

Therefore, I have a couple of questions.

I have a KAC Shockwave (not mentioned) on my AR pistol with a smooth buffer tube. Am I GTG with that or should I remove it?  

I got it from a friend with no letter. Does anyone know if those ever had a letter issued?

ATF has not evaluated ANY submitted industry sample in over two years....They put them on the shelf and log them in.  I have had a sample in to ATF since October 31. 2018.

You CAN'T get any guidance from ATF other than a gotcha moment when they claim you violated the law.  They will not tell what is legal but will bust you if you fail secret/unknown build criteria.

For a split second I thought to look at what SB tac brace came with my ruger 556 pistol, then a split second after thought "I don't give a fuck"

JE machine, Davidson defense... Who the fuck are these clowns? LMT and B5 are the current contractors for the SOPMOD stock, last I checked. And they both charge $100+
