SkyWeek is free and has a simple interface. It’s aimed at casual users. Sky guide is another free app that shows constellations and tracks some satellites. There are some in depth apps like the SkySafari line. They are for the more serious enthusiasts and cost some cash, although they go on sale a couple of times per year.
I’d start with the free stuff and see if it meets your needs before spending money on the more complex apps. Good luck. |

I think Google was the one that you could hold to the sky and it would id the objects you pointed it at.

Sky safari is very nice, I use it all the time. It goes on sale all the time too.
