Some folks I've talked to who remember his time as president have said he wasn't far away from being a Republican by today's standards
Do you agree? |

He was a populist for a reason, and killed by the commies for a reason.

He stole that election from Nixon. Yet he and Nixon were good friends while in congress.
To be honest, while he had some left leanings, he was probably the last true conservative/patriotic democrat in the white house. |

Patriot, made Special Forces official, promised to " break up the CIA to a million pieces"
Was subsequently killed by said CIA. The original "swamp drainer" . |

I was in Jr High when he was killed.
Everybody that I knew liked him, me included. He would have for sure been a conservative today; |

I've always had mixed feelings about JFK.
In a way, he was what was wrong with America. Well-connected family, started a political dynasty (shouldn't exist in our government), surrounded by corruption thanks to dear old dad. I don't like him hanging the expatriates out to dry in the Bay of Pigs. However, he was certainly pro-gun and anti-commie. Served in the Pacific Theater in WWII although it is possible some embellishments were provided by his father the fact is he was still there. At the end of the day he was a patriotic American and I can respect him on that alone. I've also been fascinated with his death my entire life. It hurts my pride as an American that our president was killed so openly. I don't like the secrecy around it. I don't believe the official story. It is weird to imagine a time when there would be a Democrat in the white House that I didn't totally despise. In my lifetime two Democrats have done so. "That depends on what your definition of "is" is" Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama. I laugh whenever the democrats of today try to "channel JFK" like they have anything in common with him at all. JFK was so right of today's democrats Pelosi, Harris, et al would be slamming him as a neo-nazi and Hitler on social media. |

I won't pretend to know his full political philosophy as he was before my time, but most quotes I've seen of his are incredibly conservative by today's standard.

I think he was just what the nation needed at the time, and I suspect things would have worked out differently with someone else doing the job.
That said, like all presidents he had his good points and bad points. Overall, I'd rate him higher than most democrats and quite a few of the repubs as well. If he were alive today (think time travel or something), I'd probably vote for him. |
|
He is the reason why most older blue collar people are democrats. They still vote blindly for democrats eventhough the party has left them behind.

He fucked everything not nailed down. Absolute moral garbage person. Policies were decent, but he had no political top cover and the CIA let the USSR assassinate him with Oswald, who was likely the shittiest spy ever and only managed to get as far as he did because the CIA ignored him.

Yeah, he was certainly more conservative than any Republican that's held the office in the 21st century.

He tried to take down the Federal Reserve with new silver certificates from the Treasury.
Shortly thereafter he was killed. The first thing the next guy did was undo the certificates thing. |
|
He made a vow to his wife then broke it time and time again. My opinion of JFK is not very high.

The last actual conservative president. Didn't betray us like that bitch reagan. Believed in personal responsibility and sacrifice.

His, "Ask not what your country can do for you" speech would have been met with boos by the current dems.
|

He was better than the other Kennedys, but that isn't saying much.

Good and Bad - He was not as great as history has built him up to be, but compared to the democrats since, he was not as bad.
Led a life of privilege. Sent to Pacific because of his romantic involvement with a Nazi spy. Allowed a small maneuverable boat to get run over by Japanese Destroyer Amagiri. Managed to swim about 3.5 miles and avoid sharks. His father, Joseph managed to make him a hero with the help of the NYT and other papers. Many will say that Nixon won the debates, but since they televised them Kennedy looked better, and he had good hair. Therefore, women were attracted to him. Maybe the first "soccer mom" vote. Despite that, he probably lost to Nixon in the presidental election, but with the assistance of the mob, dead Chicago voters, and LBJ, he managed to win. He and Jackie were placed on a pedestal by an adoring media at the time. He had the gonads to stand up to Russia during the Cuba missile crisis. He had Bobby go after the mob. If he had not been killed, would we have never been involved in Vietnam? Would the CIA have been broken up? Would we never have gotten LBJ's "Great Society"? where would we be as a country now? |
