Academy is good to go IMO. They pulled their ARs off the rack and hid them in the back a couple times after high profile mass shootings, but they were still available for sale to anyone who asked.

I buy a good bit of ammo from them. Their selection, prices, and being local is hard to resist. I've never bought a gun from them though.

They're G2G. They put their stuff on the down-low from time to time, but they sell it.
I have noticed that they haven't had any modern sporting rifles in their flyers in a few months. Just pistols and Fudd guns. |

I purchase ammo and fishing tackle there frequently. That said buying a firearm there is a royal pain in the ass. Massive fucktardedness checking rechecking manager approval rechecking of 4473. They even do background check on CHL’s. I have stood there for 1.5 HOUR waiting on the asshattery to get done. FFS the Mom&Pop FFL down the road that does paper 4473 has me in and out in 15 minutes. |

They changed the one around/remodeled near me...seems like its less gun stuff.... I cried! Was my favorite big box gun store.
Ammo section is smaller....didnt seem like a lot of guns either. |

If you buy a gun from them and get delayed, they will not transfer until they get the greenlight. They do not abide by the 3 day period. If you get delayed, might as well go elsewhere.

I work there behind the gun counter. Electronic 4473 one other form that says all firearm sales are final. We don’t do returns or exchanges. But I have never not helped the customer with shipping a repair or recall.
You would be surprised of the buyers remorse, or the wife’s pissed, can I return it phone calls. |

I like academy. When I need something like ammo fast I check there first.
When you buy a gun there they make you wait till someone can walk you to the front of the store with it which is meh. The guy I had last time walked all the way out to my truck with me which I though was kinda cool, we just BSed about guns and how 9mm is superior to 45, but 10mm rules all. Guess he was gonna back me up if I got ambushed? Lol |
