In a somewhat related note two days ago I had to yank a tic out of my ball bag.

Of course I couldn't get the head with it so now it itches like a motherfucker.

You and I have similar skill. I had what I was certain was a tick on the back of my head. I ripped it off my melon to find it was part of a skin tag/mole. Took a damn week before it quit bugging me.

In Missouri we call them seed ticks. Never heard of a lone star tick but it makes sense. I live in KC, but travel to Warsaw often, and fish around the county, I usually see two types of ticks, the bigguns an the lil ones. I think the big ones are called deer ticks. But the small ones with one white spot are seed ticks.

Lone star ticks are worse, they carry that disease that makes you allergic to red meat.

Wood tick  possibly a juvenile with the white behind its head. Deer ticks are smaller.

Here we call em deer ticks. Lone star is the correct name I believe and they do carry Lyme's so keep an eye on the area.

I usually find 5/6 daily crawling on me. Gotten really good at gettin em before they bite. It's also satisfying to kill them with a lighter. They puff up like you inflated them, and when they pop they make a very gratifying sound.

Nope, Lyme is caused by a bacterium called Borrelia burgdorferi and can be cured with antibiotics.  The allergy to red meat is caused by a completely different vector and has no cure.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha-gal_allergy
