Romper Room and the Bozo show are not going to be known to a lot of younger folks....but plenty of folks know.
I dreamed of being on Romper Room or Bozo. I even built and practiced the "Grand Prize Game" (I wanted that "crisp 50 dollar bill" that making the ping pong ball into bucket 6 would win!) It never happened. I was a little surprised to learn that Romper Room was franchised...and that made the odds of getting on the show a lot higher. (it was specific to your TV market) Any stories? About these shows or others? Here is a dose of nostalgia for a lot of yall The Grand Prize Game on The Bozo Show - Filmed Oct 14, 1988 I believed she was talking to me when she said my name. 1984 Romper Room Magic Mirror Clip |

?? Didnt that come out of Portland? There was a wrestling show also. I remember Mean Gene, .........the 4'2 bald guy announcer. The main commercial was a furniture store..., that i heard way back then that the dude got caught banging a stripper or something. Supposedly she was from the one that actually cooked good chow up there. Visited there a time or 2.

I think I still have my Bozo's circus ticket stubs for the show from the 70's

My brothers and I went on “The Uncle Gus Show” in New Hampshire in 1976.

Wasn't on it but I watched the Chicago version of the Bozo show a lot up until probably around 5th grade or so, 1988ish. WGN played nationally by that time.

I think the last time I watched Romper Room was 69 or 70. That F'n cunt never once saw me in the magic mirror. Not one damn time! Fuck Romper Room!

In the early 60's I was on the Poopdeck Pappy show. I was picked to play one of the games & won a big (about 2') cardboard Tootsie roll filled with the mini ones.

"Cracko the Clown" in Puerto Rico, Ramey AFB in '68, '69. Yes, Cracko.

My older brother was on the Detroit Bozo show. He won some game that involved flipping switches up or down to light up all the lights. He said he could see the wires through the apparatus, and just oriented the switches to where the wires were.
I can't remember what the prize was, but he was pretty stoked about it. |

I loved Romper Room. Miss Mary Ann was awesome! lol. Back in the 60's you could send off for a piece of clear plastic that would stick to your TV screen and, with the marker included could "finish" a given cartoon with items the cartoon needed (IE, maybe someone was watering flowers. The outline of the water can was flashed on the screen and our little 6yr old asses were to trace the can to make the screen to make sense
of it). I also remember her pushing for the recycling of cans and her telling us that each can was worth a whole half cent! lol |

I want to know. I want to talk about something from my past, with others who may also have things to say about these things. Why are you even here if this is something you are paranoid about? |

I was in the cast of thousands on the WGN Bozo Show.
I remember they gave everybody in the audience a fucking terrifying amount of Big League Chew bubble gum. 6 year old me thought that was fucking dope. 40 year old me may or may not have a identical case of Big League Chew bubble gum on my dresser right now. |

I grew up a 30-minute bicycle ride form the studio in Hollywood where the original Bozo was filmed. I must have been in the audience about a few dozen times.
Most television shows filmed live in Hollywood back in the 60's and 70's had a hard time filling the live audience every day, so they would offer money to organizations that would being in a bunch of people for a filming. I sat in the audience for so many live television shows I can't possibly remember them all, to raise funds for my baseball team, football team, marching band, and so on. |

I can barely remember Bozo the clown. I was really young when he was on air.

Mom did some work with WTVI in Charlotte when I was a kid. My neighborhood friends and I would get drug down there anytime they needed some kids for random things they would have going on. I was on a locally shot segment of Sesame Street a few times. Kids at school would give me grief over it. Local celebrity and all

Fox Christown Theater, 19th Ave and Camelback (back when the Aves were relatively safe, at least the low ones), boy those were the days. |

I was on the Bozo show back in the early 60’s it was great. The only problem is later in life I found out that the Bozo show in Tijuana was a fake Bozo and the real Bozo was in Chicago.
It was one of life’s little disappointments |

Yep, Romper Room with my younger siblings. But like the poster above, I preferred Sheriff John. I was pissed though when he didn't give me a birthday shoutout but he gave one to my brother on his first birthday.
Also, I liked Hobo Kelly and that magic machine that spit out toys. This would have been on KTTV, 1967-68 or so. |

Scranton PA WNEP
Hatchy Milatchy. Miss Judy. I never got a phone call, or won the Tootsie Roll bank. But I was on it once, and sat next to Miss Judy. Mid-70's |

I met the Detroit area Bozo the clown. His name was Art Cervi. He ran some big Ford car collectors club here in Michigan. He did the survey on my mom's 1955 t-bird before we sold it
Got to talk to him quite a bit. It was really funny talking to him on the phone because you could tell by the voice it was Bozo LOL. Super nice guy. He told me he made tons of money doing weekend gigs for birthday parties and bar mitzvahs LOL. I mean in the sixties he was making 600 bucks for every weekend show that he did. He passed a couple years ago. |
