Slow plodding movie where the Black Gubmint Man taking care of the poor white girl is lynched by Evil Texans. White US Gubmint Soldiers are brutish and insensitive and don't care about poor kids. White Cracker Southerners want to buy the poor white girl for guess what but Hanks decides he wants to keep her for himself. Evil White Family ties poor girl to stake because she refuses to follow their orders. Tom Hanks rides off into sunset with her. It's directed by Paul Greengrass, the euroweenie who did the Bourne series so it's woke as fuck and Evil Americans are the cause of all the suffering in the world.
Honestly though, I slept through big patches of the film and couldn't be bothered to go back and see what I missed. The shootout with the Evil Confederate Crackalackas was mildly interesting but the whole swapping out the birdshot with dimes has been done before. I want my money back and I saw it for free... |

Like much of Hollywood, what you see is not what you get. Hanks is a good actor for sure. Being taken for granted is something I'm putting an end too. Im getting tired of funding Hollywood bad behavior for the sake of fleeting entertainment. Their Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde life styles spawn a narcissistic, elitist attitude that I'm not going to fund anymore. A lot more people are agreeing. The only movie theater in our area closed over a year ago and no one is missing it. There are other factors as well but this for sure one of them.
We have a local Actors Guild that put on plays 4-5 times a year until COVID struck. They routinely pack the house every night. We know the actors and we share our community values. They may not be Broadway calibre but who cares? |
